Well, I’ve got a big announcement. Last year at Christmas, I wanted to write an ebook. This was even before ebooks were a dime a dozen. But, as usual, I got lazy and didn’t do it. This year. Well, I did it.
I am releasing a Christmas Advent book for kids and families on the day after Thanksgiving. I am RIDICULOUSLY excited about it. Like have butterflies in my stomach as I type this so excited!
And today, I want to introduce the title and cover to you! Buzzhive (which also happens to be run by my fabulous brother) is doing the design and I gotta tell you, it looks super DUPER good. OK. Are you ready? (I’m nervous.) Here we go. The cover and title of my ebook…
Is that the cutest little thing you ever did see?! And in case you can’t read the little byline it says, Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands.
Let’s break this down Top Ten style:
1. When deciding on the name, I wanted “Advent Experience” in there because this book is not a devotional, it’s not a craft book. It’s more than that–it’s really an experience for you and your kids during Advent–the days leading up to Christmas.
2. This book is (get ready for an overused, almost meaningless word) organic. I didn’t write this because I wanted to cash in on ebooks. I wrote it because it’s an organic idea…an true and real experience that began in our family. And one I think others will enjoy.
3. DO YOU LOVE THAT LITTLE KID ON THE FRONT?!
4. You can like the Truth in the Tinsel Facebook page NOW. And would you, please, pretty please so I can get the custom URL? Please and thank you!
5. The basic overview of the book is that you and your kids will spend a few minutes each day reading a portion of the Christmas Story (from all of the main passages), making a small ornament to correspond with the story and then talking about it. Sounds fun, right?
6. You do not have to be crafty, creative or even super cool to read and love this book. I wrote it with the I-want-to-do-something-cool-with-the-kids-but-am-too-tired-uncreative-to-figure-something-out parent in mind.
7. I believe Christmas is THE best time to impress God’s Word on your kids heart. In fact, I wrote a whole post about Making Holidays HOLYdays. You should read it.
8. The book goes on sale the day after Thanksgiving. That’s BLACK FRIDAY. And you know what that means: DEALS! So, make sure you’re connected with me (as Impress Your Kids) on twitter and with Truth in the Tinsel on Facebook so you can get the deal-of-a-lifetime.
9. I’m looking for 20 bloggers who have an appropriate audience for this book to review it the week before (or after) Thanksgiving. If you’re a mom blogger, a homeschool blogger, ministry-church type blogger (or something else you think would fit) email me at amanda at ohamanda.com and let me know if you’re interested. I’ll have my people call your people. (Kidding. I don’t have people.) Yowza! All the spots are full! THANK YOU!
10. When I read through the book out loud the first time, I cried at the end of it. Without being prideful, can I just say that I think this has the potential to introduce kids to Jesus for the first time? And to make a lasting impression and maybe even a lasting CHANGE in their little hearts. I’m crazy excited about it and hope you’ll love it, too!
