This week has been crazy. On Wednesday night, Atlanta got hit with ICE. And since we are not remotely equipped to handle it, the city shut down. My kids were already spending the night with my parents and then ended up having to spend 2 nights and 3 full days with them. I was stuck about 2 miles from home for over THREE HOURS. I was just sitting in my car hoping my phone wouldn’t die and my car wouldn’t run out of gas. So, needless to say our advent calendar has been at the bottom of the list!
Today was finally a normal day (with the exception of me forgetting to bring Lydia to her ballet class!) and we opened up 3 doors on our advent calendar! We did the Star Lacing Card and the kids really got into it! Admittedly, Asa just looked at it while I laced it. But Lydia loved it! And best of all we learned a new Bible verse because each point of the star is part of the verse and you have to lace it in that order!

I printed off the papers and then we glued them to foam board. We stuck thumbtacks into the stars (which Asa actually did like)! And then wound the yarn around. It turned out really cute! In fact, if you did the same thing on a smaller scale (maybe with tiny nails) it would be a cute ornament!
And we all (including Asa!) learned the verse quickly! The star and the wisemen have made a big impression on the kids this year already. Today I let the kids play outside on the porch (it was like 55 degrees!) and Asa brought his stick horse because he said he was going to look for the star! I kid you not!
