God is… our Counselor

God is our Wonderful Counselor… Merriam-Webster defines a counselor as a person who gives advice or counseling.  When God gives us His counsel, He is sharing with us His purpose!

Isaiah 9:6

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 28:29

This also comes from the LORD of hosts, Who has made His counsel wonderful and His wisdom great.

Isaiah 50:4

The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of disciples,
That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.

John 14:16-17

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

As Elias and Donovan grow, I want them to learn to surround themselves with good counsel – and I want them to learn that they should turn to the Lord before any man.  Thanks to a friend’s suggestion (thanks, Andrea!!!), we made chains of paper people to show Elias and Donovan surrounded by good counsel – God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, followed by Daddy and Mommy.
