My great-grandparents in Macon, GA in the 50’s.
When they first got married, they were very poor. They moved to Tennesee and Alabama to find work.
This is their…uhm, house in Alabama. Sometime between 1913 & 1920.
This is the back of the photo. Unsure of who wrote it, but don’t you love their handwriting and the wording?
The beautiful residence of JF Hunnicutt in Tuscambia, Ala.
I wonder if they were being sarcastic. Or was this a beautiful place?
I bet that house was filled with a lot of love. Great photos!
And we have no idea what color it was. I am picturing it in a pretty shade of blue . . . and with that scenery . . . it really was beautiful, I’m sure. Wow, what a neat picture, a. I always look forward to your ww’s. What I am sayin’ . . . I look forward to all your posts 🙂
oops, I hadn’t changed my email to the correct one. This one is now! ;c)
No fair… you have 3 and I cannot even come up with one!
I’m betting that was beautiful to them!
I’ve been whining about my house recently to neighbors. When I see I place like this one, I realize, “I’ve got it so good that I can’t see straight.”
Amazing – I love that they called it a “beautiful residence.”
Man, I needed that.
Hi Amanda! I love these yellowed pics. This sure is a reminder of the life of you folks. It speaks a lot on how they refer their home as beautiful residence. It must really be a one beautiful home, despite the construction. Construction is just physical, what matters most to me is the harmony of those living under this roof.
wow great photos. My great grandparents were from the same area in the same years. now I know what their house might have looked like.
