Ah, and now onto my favorite part of any party—the food!! From the very beginning I wanted to do apple food. You know, because Snow White eats an apple? Granted, it was poison and this food was supposed to be good, but still—I liked the connection.

So, our main dish was Snow White’s Caramel Apple Sundaes. *sigh* Just let that yummy title sink in.

There is a very big story that goes with these apples, but that’s a post for another day…let’s get to the how-to instead, shall we?

Ingredients & Tools:

Apple Corer Peeler Slicer. (like this one)

Apples

Melted Caramel (I used Smucker’s Caramel Ice Cream Topping. We poured it in the crock pot and let it heat up. Easy Peasy.)

Whipped Cream (We made our own because we’re foodies like that…)

Nut Topping

Maraschino Cherries

Optional Chocolate Chips &/or other toppings

Directions:
1. Use the apple corer slicer peeler. (Except don’t use the peeler part.) It will cut the apple in a nice big spiral—cut into quarters. Place in bowl.
2. Pour on caramel.
3. Top with whipped cream, nuts and a cherry.
4. Eat.
5. Repeat.

Are you lovin’ that? YUM. I figured that was food enough and decided to just add a few more warm pieces of food in case some random crazy person didn’t want anything sweet to eat. We had Sleepy’s Pillow Pizzas (Totino’s Pizza Rolls) and Doc’s Dwarf Size Quiche (Nancy’s Petite Quiche).

Then my SECOND favorite food item of the day was actually our beverage. I made a drink straight out of the movie:

Just combine ginger ale, frozen lemonade and apple juice. Then add the secret ingredient…

DRY ICE—for a spooky smoky potion! Cool, huh? Well, Lydia didn’t think so. Here she is when she first saw the punch.

Don’t worry, she got over it. I wrote “Snow White” on her cup and she drank it right up. (I wrote all the Snow White character names on the cups so everyone could find them again. Poor Bailey, Becky‘s daughter got, “Wicked Stepmother”!)

And last but certainly not least is the CAKE! My bff and sisterchick, Staci made it and besides being absolutley adorable it was DELICIOUS! (She’s available for your next birthday party or special event! Check out her cake blog!)

(thanks, Stace!)

(and The Snow White Party Part 1 if you missed it!)

Lydia’s 3rd birthday party was an absolute, unmitigated, totally amazing and electrifying success. OK, maybe I’m exaggerating a little. But it was incredibly fun!

Of course, the first and best part was our little Snow White herself. She wore her Halloween costume and the second it fell on her shoulders, she was transformed into a princess. She sashayed and twirled the rest of the day.

We were not alone in our costume-ing. Several of our guests dressed up, too! There is nothing more fun than opening up the front door to a couple of dwarfs or a princess and a pirate! Not to mention when half the guests are dressed up, there’s no need for decorations! (How’s that for frugal?!)

My favorite part of this party was the games…well, I don’t do games, these were stations. We had a Magic Mirror station… (aka, a giant mirror screwed to the wall with Crayola Window Markers)

A Royal Ring station…

I found this great blog with directions for making rings out of pipe cleaners and plastic jewels. Well, I posted directions but the kids ended up being more creative than me! The rings were absolutely adorable!

A Make your Own Dwarf Mask station…

I bought the masks from Oriental Trading Company. They were actually scarecrow masks. We cut one side of the hat off, added some yarn and squares of fabric and it looked just like a dwarf! Kinda.

A do-it-yourself Scavenger Hunt…

I printed out pictures of all the dwarfs, Snow White and the Prince. I taped them up all over the house.

Then each kid got a card and when they found the matching picture, marked it off their card. When they found all the pictures, they came to me for a prize. Everyone won at their own pace! (*You can print your own Snow White Scavenger Hunt Card and use to your heart’s content!*)

And the pièce de résistance: The Seven Dwarfs Mine.

Oh yes, it opened at 2:30 and when the self-proclaimed Queen Grandmama (aka my mom) invited all the guests into the mine, everyone was given a plastic spoon and the digging began!

I actually drove to Dahlonega (the site of the first major gold rush in the US about 1828) and bought two bags of dirt filled with gems from Consolidated Gold Mine. I was surprised how big the rocks were! Here’s Lydia’s stash…
