Monday & Tuesday Have Switched Places

by oh amanda on July 8, 2008

I was so excited to tell you about the Wii, I didn’t even post my normal Monday randomness! (Do you see how I’ve embraced it?) Well, today I decided to bless you with some randomness. It’s just one of those days.

I have just entered my 3rd trimester. I’m 28 weeks. And according to the weekly email I’m receiving, my baby is the size of a Chinese Cabbage. Does anyone know what in the heck that is? Who makes this stuff up?

Today I had my test for Gestational Diabetes. I had to drink a cupful of some nasty sugar glucose-y something with lime flavoring. After sticking around the doctor’s office for a whole hour, they pulled two pints of my blood.

Oh, I meant, two vials.

Sorry about that. It was ok, though, Lydia thought it was amazing.

Speaking of Lydia, she can read.

OK, maybe not totally, but today she was looking at an animal book and told me every letter in the word “leopard” in order. I thought that was pretty good!

Oh, and back to the little cabbage, he is making me tired! *yawn* I took a nap yesterday while Lydia took hers and as soon as this amazing post is done, I’m hitting the bed again. So, I’m sorry if I haven’t returned your email yet, I’m snoozing on my tempurpedic.

I have a few posts rolling around in my head…one about yoga because I just started a prenatal yoga class…and one about…uhm…gosh…drat that preggo brain! I can’t remember what the other one was going to be about!

I’m Just Going With It

by oh amanda on June 16, 2008

It’s Monday. I blog about randomness. It’s just a fact of life. I refuse to kick against the pricks.

Have you ever heard of the Donut Man? I have to admit, he’s a little cheezy–I mean, Christian kids’ music from the early 90′s. We used his songs as puppet songs back in the day. So, I randomly tivoed it a few months ago for Lydia. She’s in *heart* with him. My favorite part is that she’s learning songs like, “O-B-E-Y! Obey your mom and dad!” and “Never! Never become tired of doing good!” That’s what we’re watching right now. I think I kinda *heart* him, too.

My cousin is getting married on Saturday. In California. And Lydia and I will be there. And I have so much to do before we leave on Wednesday! Like washing clothes. Like packing. Like deciding if I’m going to auto-post or let my blog lay fallow. Like emailing Deanne to see if we can actually get together irl while I’m there. Like getting off the computer right now.

I actually have a Menu Plan for the 2 days I’m going to be home. Can you believe it? One day it’s going to be Confetti Corn Quesadillas (so yummy) and then Honey Garlic Chicken in the slow cooker. I’ve got a few frozen dinners loaded up so dh doesn’t go hungry while we’re gone, too. I’m feeling very domestic!

I bought a dress for the wedding at Mimi Maternity yesterday. I forgot how much I hate that store. Sale items are NO REFUND and they make you sign the receipt so you don’t’ try to return it anyway. Ugh. Anyway, I had no choice. It’s actually a little cuter on than the picture…because I will never be standing like that…you can click on it to see a bigger pic…

ew. i'm wearing a tent to a wedding!

But what do you think about accessories? Could I wear some colored shoes? Or brightly colored jewelry? It’s just a little boring if I wear black sandals or something, you know? I’m already going to look like a jellyfish. No, not a jelly fish, but a jelly donut. Or something. So, do you have any accessory suggestions?

That’s all she wrote!

Not Sure What Day It Is?

by oh amanda on June 9, 2008

Just read my post. You’ll always know it’s Monday around here because I post about absolute nonsense.

For example, yesterday I marked all my bloglined blogs as “read”. Like I read them. Even though I didn’t. Even though I’m not going to catch up on many of my friend’s blogs, even tho’ they regularly read and comment here. I was just so behind and I haven’t been feeling very bloggy lately. And those little bloglines were nagging me. (Is that enough excuses?)

Camp Rocks started yesterday. Les and I helped drive the kids to camp again. It’s funny now that I’ve been blogging over a year, my posts are starting to be the same as the year before. (With the exception of Mondays that are the same EVERY week.) Lydia, however, was quite changed. She is usually very shy with strangers. But she was SO EXCITED about having some kids ride in her car. In fact, she didn’t want to go to church because she wanted to pick the kids up first. She talked the entire time and called the girls by their first names. It was the cutest.

Remember my theology post? And remember I was going to post a Part 2? Well, I don’t think I can do it. I don’t like it when Christians argue. Even nicely. There’s enough stupid stuff in the world, I don’t want to contribute to having Christians get uptight about JESUS, you know? I don’t know, I can’t really talk about it more articulately. I’ve tried to write a Part 2 and it feels weird. So, maybe one day. But right now you’ll just have to read between the lines. I guess I’m a wimp.

I’ve also been thinking about blogging. You know Blogher is coming up soon. And SheSpeaks. Last year when this stuff rolled around, I was a new blogger. I couldn’t imagine going to a conference about blogging. Now, I can. But I’ve also been contemplating if I want to go there. Being a “real” blogger requires a lot of time and attention. There’s lots of networking to do. Lots of proofreading. Lots of attention and scheduling. So, even though I’d like to see my “audience” expand daily, I kinda like the idea that my blog can go through ebbs and flows. It’s not stressful.

Wow, I sound really serious today don’t I? It’s only 8:30 so I guess I’m still sleepy. I had 2 bad dreams last night (one had to do with American Idol’s David Cook and me and Lydia falling into some pork and beans. for real.) and whenever that happens, I feel weird the next morning.

Let’s see, let me try to end on an up note. How’s this? At Camp Rocks, the counselors and staff pick a bird name. So, the kids call them Hummingbird or Hawk instead of Mr. Lastname or whatever. (It comes from Elijah and the ravens who ministered to him at the Brook Cherith.)

Anyway, my cousin (the one who graduated last week) is also graduating from the CILT (Campers in Leadership Training Program) this year. His bird name is a little non-traditional…he’s a drummer, so his is DRUMSTICK. Get it? Well, I was thinking about ordering this for him:

(click the pic for more yummy felt)

Too much? I thought it would like kinda cute nestled on his sleeping bag. Or maybe he could make it into a necklace. Whad’ya think?

The Elmo Warning

by oh amanda on March 10, 2008

Elmo’s World just started! That gives me roughly 20 minutes to finish this post. Lydia usually watches TV while she eats breakfast and I wake up. This morning I decided to finally catch up on my bloglines…the UBP has cut into my normal blogging routine! (BTW, thank you for all the comment love! It’s been so fun and sweet!)

Anyway, I was reading along, catching up on all my bbb, then Elmo’s World started! Yikes, that means Sesame Street is almost over! (Only moms would know this I’m sure…but I really think the writers of Sesame Street put Elmo’s World on at the end so moms would know their one hour of freedom is almost done.)

I say all of that to say…I have no idea what I was going to say! I feel like I haven’t *really* blogged in awhile. Why is that? Oh yeah, blog party, vacation, laziness–the usual.

Plus, as you are aware, it’s Monday. And you know that Mondays are the most un-blog-worthy day there is. In fact, I’m thinking of starting a new meme entitled, Mondays Make Me Mad as a March Hare. Then I won’t feel bad when I write the most random and uninspired post every Monday. And everyone can join in with their random posts, I think it will be pretty popular. <sarcasm ends here>

In other news:

I still haven’t finished my laundry from the cruise.

I’m planning a First Day of Spring party for Lydia on Thursday. I think she’s going to be the only guest in attendance. But I’m doing her easter-y stuff that day instead of you know, on Resurrection Sunday.

And finally, we watched Biggest Loser last night. (Yes, the one from Tuesday) I’m sad Bernie is gone. I wanted him in the Final Four. Now I think I’d like my Final Four to be: Roger (Roll Tide!), Dan (he has got to make it to the makeover)…and maybe Brittany? I don’t know, she’s kinda getting on my nerves. Hmmm. What do you think?

OK, Elmo’s watching the Game Channel. That gives me just enough time to proofread post. Are you Mad as a March Hare yet?
