So I have this weird thing about my name…
Well, I’ve actually always loved my name–top ten though it is. Amanda means “worthy of love” and I…well, love that!
But for some unknown reason I was thinking about this today (and really for the last 20 years)…
1. If you pull my name apart it sounds like…
A man, duh!
I wish I could tell you how many times people have said that to me. Or many times I’ve drawn the letter A, then a man, then a geek shouting DUH!
Come on, try it. Pretend you are pointing out a man, “A man!” and your awesome friend next to you is rolling their eyes in response saying, “Duh!”
Fun, huh?
2. I have the word “and” in the middle of my name. I was thinking it would be cool if I could just sign my name like this from now on:
Am&a
Like a shortcut to my name! (Really, I tried this for like a week, but it never stuck…)
3. I like thinking about my name backwards.
Adnama
Isn’t that great? You pronounce it so it rhymes with Alabama. With the emphasis on Ad-NAM-a. Cool, right? I just might start calling myself that instead. Adnama. OhAdnama!
So. What’s the weird thing about YOUR name?

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Suzy (SuzyQ to her friends). She’s very cute–long brown hair with some cute colored streaks. A sassy little dress with sandals. (Yes, even in this weather.) She has a sweet little poodle named Fluffy (original, right?) that she carries around in–get this–a pink purse. But still you can’t help but love her. She’s adorable.
Well, Lydia’s fallen in love with her, too. In fact, so much so, that she has decided to take a trip with Suzy. To Tennessee and California. It’s a long trip, but Lydia is excited. She’s even packed her bag. She made sure to include her water shoes, bathing suit, all fourteen of her fairy figurines and her kaleidoscope. (It makes a great telescope for a pirate in a pinch.)
After she packed her bag, though, it was so heavy, she couldn’t even carry it. We tried the stroller, but then where would she sit? So, we just packed it up in a box and mailed it to Tennessee. Lydia wrote the address herself and even added her own Valentine’s stamps to make sure it arrived on time.
Suzy and Lydia are now taking a quick nap before they hop in Lydia’s doratheexporer car and head to the airport. Needless to say, it’s been a busy day today.
