Countdown: 2 Weeks Until He Walks The Plank!

should I paint my toenails?

my pirate & my toes. 38 weeks.

Two weeks. TWO WEEKS. Can I say it again?! Just TWO. MORE. WEEKS.

I’m definitely feeling like I’m at the end. I feel like I have an enormous person shoved inside my abdomen. An enormous person that moves at all hours of the night or randomly decides to sit on my bladder. I know he’s moved to a different position and I’m guessing he’s getting ready to…you know, get ready.

I’ve also been feeling E.MO.TION.AL. Like just thinking about crying makes me want to cry. Yesterday I was having totally irrational fears and imagining that these two weeks would be the last two weeks of my normal life. (Please don’t tell the pirate I said that…)

In happier news, I had another shower yesterday! It was at church and so sweet. Yummy food, a cute cake and lots of adorable presents…even a few pirate gifts! It was actually a joint shower with another mama who’s due 2 weeks after me. She also has a little girl who’s about to be a big sister to her new little brother. I felt very honored share the day with her and to have all those great women around me.

I didn’t get one good picture, but it was cute to see the two “big sisters” jump on those presents and then show them off Vanna-White-style to all the other ladies.

So, now that the showers are over and done, the nursery is painted, the clothes washed and the middle name picked out, there’s nothin’ left but the waitin’!

I had my first baby shower last week! It was so fun. I love baby showers. And wedding showers. And parties of any kind. You know I’m a little freaked when it comes to themes. And this shower was no exception!

It was a joint shower with one of my sisterchicks, Mandi. Who is due…any minute. Actually, she’s due the first of September and I’m due the last. She has a son who is a few months older than Lydia and this new baby is going to be a girl. Exact opposite of me! (And perfectly aligned to marry when they grow up!)

So, we did a purple & blue polka dot shower. Mandi’s nursery is purple polka dots and mine is will be blue with circles. So, it was perfect! Everything was purple & blue.

We each got a diaper cake in our color…

for the baby girl look at the pirate sword on mine!

Instead of a guestbook, the guests signed in for Mandi in the front cover of this kids’ book…

i think my blog is kinda purplicious...

While they signed this for my pirate and me…

yo ho. yo ho.

(Isn’t that a great keepsake? I LOVE IT!)

Staci made her famous cupcakes in purple & blue…

seriously. yummy.

We had mini cheesecakes (not purple or blue, but at least round!), some delicious mini black bean burgers in mini english muffins (that were made from wheat that Mandi’s sil ground herself!) and of course, some purple and blue cookies courtesy of Kristen

i want one now.

My favorite food though, was the purple & blue M&M’s. The blue ones said Baby OhAmanda and the purple ones said Baby Mandi. Well, really, it had our last names, but you know what I mean…

love me some M&Ms

So, would you hire us to do your next baby shower? I mean, really? How cute are we?

sisterchicks

(Thank you to my sisterchicks and their families for such an amazing shower. I love love love you! And a big shout out to Rebekah, Mandi’s sil, my natural skin-care guru, and an un-official sisterchick who also hosted the shower!)

Happy Panda is hosting a giant Baby Shower for Janice and Susan at 5m4m. They are twin sisters who are were pregnant at the same time. Little Olivia was born this week and Sophia is due very soon! So, to join in the fun (and gifts!) of the shower, I’m going to share a little of my baby story! They’re asking everyone to share a picture of their baby bump, their birth story and even a l&d picture. (I don’t have one of those…)

I loved being pregnant. I felt beautiful even while my body expanded! It’s fun because everyone else is so excited. I didn’t even mind people rubbing my belly. I wanted them to love my baby! And I felt so loved at my baby showers. My sisterchicks threw me the most fun one–a pink & green shower. Everything from the decor to the food was pink and green to match Lydia’s bedding. The guests were instructed to wear pink to the shower! They even made a scrapbook–from everyone at the shower to Lydia. Each person signed it and wrote a note to Lydia about me. What a precious gift.

Then my psudeo-mom in Birmingham threw me a shower (they call it a Tea in Birmingham, y’all!) and it was just precious. It was decorated to rival anything of Martha’s. I felt so special.dsc00903.JPG

I remember looking in Lydia’s room after the shower–there was no furniture, just mounds of presents, gobs of giftbags! It was like Babies R Us had exploded in there. I loved looking at all the precious gifts. They were little pieces of love to me.

My birthstory was pretty normal. I had an check-up on Wednesday, they kept me because the amniotic fluid was low, my water broke Wednesday night. I started having contractions about midnight. And she was born at 9:31am. And I was in love. Here’s a picture of when we first got to hold her for a long period of time. You can see her little hands are still blue. The blood had not even made it there yet! She was brand new!

My first ultrasound story is more exciting than the birth story. And here‘s how we broke the news to our fam.

Anyway, that’s a little of my baby story. If you click over to 5m4m you can join in the baby shower by reading more baby stoires, sharing your story and hopefully win some fun prizes. (Uh, like a million fun prizes. Including a few of my favorite things I’ve ever owned. And a ton of stuff I wished I had.)
