award

Well, folkses, I’ve got some bloggy stuff going on in my head. Let’s just write a little shall we?

Numero Uno. Have you joined NaBloPoMo yet? *sigh* I just love to say that. NaBloPoMo. NaBloPoMo. Anyway, it’s just a big group of bloggers that have commited to posting every day in November. That’s not really the cool part. The cool part is that when you sign up, you get your very own NaBloPoMo social networking page. It’s like a giant myspace just for NaBloPoMo. (It’s designed by Ning. And I guess anyone can make their own “myspace”. I’m thinking of making one just for oh amanda readers. What do you think? KIDDING.) Anyway, click my awesome pic below to join! (And don’t forget to make me your friend!)

Dos. The Fall Yall Giveaway is coming up on Monday! Are you so excited? That means free stuff galore! Well, this time I’m combining this giveaway with another giveaway…that is going to start a big long month of giveaways! Are you confused yet? Well, just know that I’ve got some giveaways coming up. And they just might have to do with Christmas. Or with me. Or with what I love about Christmas. But yeah, it’s gonna be free. (I’m so excited!!)

Tres. I’m a mathlete. Oh. Oops. I meant, Mathetes. (That’s Greek for ‘disciple’. Yes, I went to Bible School. No, I didn’t know that.) Two of my favorite bloggy friends gave me an award. And I have to tell you, these are nice. And humbling. Melodye & Jenny gave me this award because they think I act (and blog) like a disciple of Jesus Christ. WOW! Thank you. I’ve said before this is an interesting season we’re in. I’m not used to not being in full-time church ministry. But to have to “strangers” say they can see Jesus in my blog posts is very encouraging. Thank you again!

Quatro. One more birthday. My favorite bloggy friend, Laura. She’s lives in Qatar. Imagine being in another country on your 30th birthday. She’s a brave one. And she’s such a thoughtful Christian, mommy and wife. I love to read her blog. Go over and say Happy Birthday, ok? (I’m just full of birthday orders today, aren’t I?)

Cinco. I don’t know. I can’t think of anything else. I refuse to blog about gay Dumbledore. I think I’m glad Oprah didn’t call me back, she’s had so many weird sexual shows this season, dontcha think? I entered Lydia in a costume contest. Peter Petrelli is getting on my nerves in this season of Heroes. And my cousin in California is pregnant! (Yes, they are near the fires. Not in. But near. Pray for them!)

Seis. The end. (btw, was my Spanish correct?)

And the winner is…

Me! Oh, no. Not of my Oprah tickets. That starts tomorrow. Didn’t want to get your hopes up.

No, I got some awards! Val, Alexis and Morning Song gave me a nice award. Literally, the Nice Matters award! WhyMommy gave me the Bloggy Community Involvement Award (it just means I shmooze well with others). My good friend Annie gave me a Courageoius Blogger Award. How awesome are they?

You know, I’ve done lots of awards posts. And honestly, they can get repetitive. But I really do appreciate them when I get them. So, I don’t want to ignore them, you know? So, for today, I thought I’d break the awards rules and not give it to anyone. Instead, I’m going to tell you why the person who gave me the award does indeed deserve it themselves. (And yes, I know, they got it in the first place. That’s why they’re passing it along. Making me a little lower on the award totem pole.)

“This award is for those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world…”

You know how much I love Val. I love opening my inbox because I can count on Val leaving me a comment for every post. Sometimes she’ll just wait and comment on 5 of them at once! And every comment is a nice one!

Alexis. I met her via Val awhile ago. And even left her a few comments. I guess I forgot to blogline her and recently Val linked to her and when I clicked over I said, “Why don’t I read her every day?” She’s in my bloggy friends folder and I’m so glad she is!

Melodye at Morning Song! We met because of a church connection in Bham. We just kinda clicked. (Is that an internet joke?) I started reading her blog really early on…like maybe a few days in, Melodye? And now she posts on 2 blogs and is just tearing it up! I love her!

An award for those who have the natural ability to effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello – all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”

WhyMommy. She’s got inflammatory breast cancer. Every day she’s blogging not just about diapers and first steps and motherhood, she’s blogging about doing this while going through chemo, while losing her hair, while having pain in her body. Yet, she has the ability to encourage others, to get the word out about ibc and love on her kids like any other mom–maybe even a little better than the rest of us because she’s got a new world view. Are you on Team WhyMommy?

“For those bloggers who are battling or have battled with physical or mental illness, those who are survivors of abuse, poverty, or who have overcome other challenges in life. Those who serve in the military or work/volunteer in dangerous situations in order to provide a service or to help others. This award is for the strong, the brave, and the courageous.”

Oh, Annie! What a courageous woman she is! She’s the mother of 4! That should do it right there! She has about a million comments on her blog every day because she’s just a sweetheart. What makes her really courageious in my eyes is that she walks by faith. Her daughter Izzy was in a drowning accident and can’t do the stuff other preschool kids can do. Annie doesn’t look at that. She sees her daughter through the eyes of faith. She speaks God’s Word over Izzy and believes that she’ll be running around with all the other kids one day. I agree with her. Click Izzy’s button on my sidebar to read more.

That’s all I’ve got. It’s not the Academy Awards, but it was fun!

I talk about my awesome sisterchicks a lot. I could not ask for better friends. In fact, I don’t even want any more friends because I love the ones I’ve got so much!

But blogging has opened up a whole new world of friends to me! I have friends all over the place who I “talk” to almost every day! I know we don’t “really” know each other. But I bet if we sat down at Starbucks, there wouldn’t be a moment of silence!

One of my new bloggy friends is Annie. I’ve mentioned her a few times. She’s so thoughtful, a Godly woman and a loving mom. She hosts Time Travel Tuesday and always has a great story to share. So, if you’re post-less on a Tuesday, time travel with her!

Anyway, she’s given me 2 awards. Can I say it again? TWO AWARDS. I know they aren’t real. I know they’re just a step above a meme. But I like them. And I appreciate awards. It means at least one person in the world who doesn’t know me in real life, reads my blog and actually likes me!

Well, the awards she gave me are just…sweet. The first one is the Blogger Reflection Award. Here’s what Annie said about me:

Amanda… you might know her as OhAmanda… She is a newer bloggy friend, but a reflective blogger if I’ve ever met one. I love her faith and reading her posts each day. I love that she offers prayers of faith for Izzy too.”

And now another one called the Creative Blogger Award:

OhAmanda. Amanda’s posts are never boring. She is very creative and quick to show off a new fun thing (like igoogle)… her posts are usually full of pictures and fun stuff. Very artsy place to drop by.

Is that the nicest thing you ever read? Well, I could say just as many nice things about her. And obviously others have too because she received these awards before me!

Now, I get to make someone else happy! This is kinda hard b/c I don’t want to just keep doing a circle of links. I give one to you, you give one to me, blah blah. But you know what? You are my friends. I do like you and I hope you like me. So, if these aren’t you below, it’s probably because I’ve given you one before or I regularly link to you!

The Reflector Blogger Award (I can never remember the name of it!) goes to people that “been an encouragement, a source of love, impacted you in some way, and have been a Godly example to you. Bloggers who when you reflect on them you get a sense of pride and joy… of knowing them and being blessed by them.” For me, these bloggers are people that REFLECT Jesus and make me REFLECT on Him.

Joy. I met Joy through my friend Candace. Joy has a daughter named after a character in The Chronicles of Narnia. Lydia’s middle name is from Narnia. So, we kinda clicked in that regard! Joy is a fun, godly woman. She’s creative & crafty. She is also a short-term missionary to Mexico this summer. Read these posts and you’ll see why she makes me reflect. (She doesn’t blog much, so she’ll probably never even see this!)

Laura. She’s moving to Qatar…uh, like in two days! She is a first time mom like me, she’s a theologian and a funny, talented writer. But what I really like about Laura is that she’s genuine. She’s real. (Yes, I know those are synonyms!) She’s not pretentious or trying too hard. (Yes, I know!) Read these posts & you’ll see what I mean!

And I’m going to award one to my sisterchick, Kristen! She’s such a fun blogger. Sometimes she blogs about the cute guys that come into her coffee shop. But she also sees God everywhere. Read these to see what I mean. She shines with Jesus!

The Creative Blogger is for “those who bring unique and creative elements to their blogs. For those who incorporate art, music, creative writing, photos, and other beautiful visual effects into their website. For those who put a unique spin on things and come up with new ideas. This award is for the artsy, the funky, the inventor, and even the rebel. This award is for those creative individuals who stand out from the crowd.”

Candace has several blogs. But her crafty blog (which she shares with some other crafty gals) is so fun! They showcase some stuff even I could do! And it just makes me happy to open up her blog!

Amber is just an amazing photographer. She’s got 2 of the cutest kids ever and one on the way. She’s a talented writer, scrapbooker & I think she’s a great blogger! Check out why I think she’s creative!

Design Mom is not someone that I know. I hardly even comment on her page. But I love her blog! Just scroll through it and you’ll be a fan. I promise.

Diann is someone I’ve JUST met through the Doggy Day giveaway. (You haven’t forgotten about my moo minicards have you?) And she’s the only one out of all the 3billion blogs I looked at that I bloglined. (Is that a word?) You will not believe how creative this girl is! And she’s only been blogging for a month! I might have a little bloggy envy on this one soon!

So, if you stuck with me on that post…you deserve an award! And if I really did give you one up there, feel free to pass on the linky love!
