One of my favorite books on prayer is Stormie Omartian’s Power of a Praying Wife. Each short chapter in the book is has a Scripture-based prayer to pray for your husband. It’s an easy book to read and I picked it up, not out of deep love for my husband but with a desire to fix something in my husband’s life. Because, as we all know, that is a wife’s job. Women change men, don’t they?!
A funny thing happened when I prayed daily for my husband’s job, his emotions, his temptations, his relationship with God and all the many prayers in that simple book: nothing. Well, nothing I could see in my husband changed. He wasn’t more attentive to me, he didn’t become a more super dad. In fact, the only thing that changed was me.

So when I first read this post, I already had the idea of praying over my husband in my head but hadn’t really done much about it. Prayer is an area I am still working on. I thought about your post for a few days and decided that maybe I should get the book. When I mentioned it to my small group leader (who runs the church bookstore) she told me that she had Power of a Praying Wife and Power of a Praying Parent together in one hardcover for only $10:) I guess the timing was right and I have started reading today. Thanks for the recommendation!
