unEaster Basket Gift Ideas

Christ-centered Easter Basket Giveaway at ohAmanda.com

We do Easter baskets a little differently around here. It all starts with my kids gathering rocks. And then there’s a Snow White cape and a Jesus basket and…well, it’s kinda cool. You should really go read my really detailed-with-lots-of-pictures post from last year (or the year before last!)

The point is, I want to make even Easter baskets point to Jesus. As much as I love a good Reese’s egg (and I do!), I also want to be purposeful with this pretty-big-deal in my kids’ lives. I remember my Easter baskets as a kid. So, I hope the way we do Easter baskets just plants another little seed of God’s truth and love into their hearts.

I started calling our Easter baskets “unEaster baskets” a few years ago because…I dunno, it makes people click on links, I guess. *wink* I like the idea of the gifts inside being less about the eggs-bunnies-and-chocolate of American Easter and more about growing in the Lord. Each year, I try to find gifts that will help my kids know Jesus more.

This year, I’ve collected some of my favorites gift ideas to inspire you!

VeggieTales :::  The newest DVD, Veggies In Space! We just watched this today and my kids’ loved it. The best part to me was the Larry and Jamie Grace duet at the end.

Scripture Stickies ::: Exactly what it sounds like–stickable Scripture verses. Kinda like a fun and meaningful post-it note.

God Gave Us Easter by Lisa Tawn Bergren ::: a sweet picture book for kids by one of my heroes!

Yancy :::  Her newest pre-teen devotional, Jesus Music Box Devotional + a Yancy tshirt. You know how much I love Yancy and her heart for giving kids God’s Word in the coolest way possible.

Seeds Family Worship ::: Honestly, this needs to be on constant rotation in your house because every single song is Scripture put to music. Plus, each volume comes with two CDs so you can give one away to a friend.

You Can Draw Bible Stories by Sandy Silverthorne ::: A fun book for your little artists. My kids adore this book and use it a lot during school when they are waiting on me to work with the other one. I love how it puts the kids into the story. It’s like a meditation for their little hands.

Willow of Wonder :::  I have loved Willow of Wonder since I found her Armor of God print during our Armor of God series. Go look thru her shop and you will find tons of prints you’ll want to hang on your walls.

Fun, right? Check out our printable Scripture cards to add to your own Easter Baskets!

Well, hopefully I will win this and put all those items in my kids baskets! They usually get a little candy, story, Bible, or devotional book, card game, and some other small items- stuffed animal, bubbles, flashlights, hair bows, etc. Even if I don’t win I’ll have to try out some of the items in the giveaway. We love Seeds but only have one CD at the moment. I love making the holidays more Christ centered and actually about the holiday and what is really important.

My 4 year old daughter is in love with the Frozen movies so I thought about putting a few of those type things in her Easter basket. I usually put some sort of age appropriate devotional type book in her basket. I love all of these ideas so even if I don’t win the basket, I’m thinking about getting a couple of the items.

Hopefully I’ll be filling my first Easter basket with your generous give-away. But if not, I definitely have some great ideas thanks so you! I have to say I love your creativity and passion for teaching your children about Jesus. Now I would just like an ebook with activities and fun stories to connect Christmas and Easter. Something about Jesus’ life. That would be cool!

Thank you for these ideas! I agree with you that I wish we put more emphasis on the meaning of Easter vs a candy holiday. I have tried doing this with my 3 & 6 yr old boys the past few years. We are starting your Sense of Ressurection book this week. I cant wait! Thank you again!

Last year for Easter we let our children choose a traditional Easter animal to give away through Compassion. Then I collected a few things to remind them of what we gave, chick stickers etc.

  31. Samantha Dietz says

    March 31, 2014 at 7:47 pm

Last year we put board games, books and a little bit of candy in our son’s easter basket.

This year, I’m assuming it will have Legos in it. I love the idea of sidewalk chalk as well, and possibly a few simple reading books as he is learning to read. 🙂

Excited to be doing Sense of the Resurrection this year.

I would love to win! We separate our celebration. On the first Sunday in spring, we do the traditional basket with chocolate, etc. We do an egg hunt and dye eggs that day too. But on Easter, we usually have a spiritual themed gift for the babies. This year I want to do a resurrection garden. We also purchased the Sense of the Resurrection book you created. I’m excited to use that.

I came here looking for basket ideas after getting some great ideas last year!!

  48. Kari D says

    March 31, 2014 at 8:51 pm

I’m so ‘practical’ that it typically ends up being one toy (i.e., paint book), a few pieces of candy and a puzzle. The one tradition I have is using a plastic bucket for their Easter basket. I got these super cute ones from Walmart with Princesses, Avengers & Spiderman. Very NON EASTER, but they last all year for when we go on treasure hunts outside. Love them!

  49. Joann N says

    March 31, 2014 at 8:51 pm

I will put a few hot wheel cars, train, and veggie tales dvd. My son is 2.

  50. Michele Hoffman says

    March 31, 2014 at 8:58 pm

My daughter will receive a book about sketching for Resurrection Sunday. My son will receive a story book. Those are the gifts from me. My MIL will probably out-do herself with candy, as usual!
