We do Easter baskets a little differently around here. It all starts with my kids gathering rocks. And then there’s a Snow White cape and a Jesus basket and…well, it’s kinda cool. You should really go read my really detailed-with-lots-of-pictures post from last year (or the year before last!)
The point is, I want to make even Easter baskets point to Jesus. As much as I love a good Reese’s egg (and I do!), I also want to be purposeful with this pretty-big-deal in my kids’ lives. I remember my Easter baskets as a kid. So, I hope the way we do Easter baskets just plants another little seed of God’s truth and love into their hearts.
I started calling our Easter baskets “unEaster baskets” a few years ago because…I dunno, it makes people click on links, I guess. *wink* I like the idea of the gifts inside being less about the eggs-bunnies-and-chocolate of American Easter and more about growing in the Lord. Each year, I try to find gifts that will help my kids know Jesus more.
This year, I’ve collected some of my favorites gift ideas to inspire you!
VeggieTales ::: The newest DVD, Veggies In Space! We just watched this today and my kids’ loved it. The best part to me was the Larry and Jamie Grace duet at the end.
Scripture Stickies ::: Exactly what it sounds like–stickable Scripture verses. Kinda like a fun and meaningful post-it note.
God Gave Us Easter by Lisa Tawn Bergren ::: a sweet picture book for kids by one of my heroes!
Yancy ::: Her newest pre-teen devotional, Jesus Music Box Devotional + a Yancy tshirt. You know how much I love Yancy and her heart for giving kids God’s Word in the coolest way possible.
Seeds Family Worship ::: Honestly, this needs to be on constant rotation in your house because every single song is Scripture put to music. Plus, each volume comes with two CDs so you can give one away to a friend.
You Can Draw Bible Stories by Sandy Silverthorne ::: A fun book for your little artists. My kids adore this book and use it a lot during school when they are waiting on me to work with the other one. I love how it puts the kids into the story. It’s like a meditation for their little hands.
Willow of Wonder ::: I have loved Willow of Wonder since I found her Armor of God print during our Armor of God series. Go look thru her shop and you will find tons of prints you’ll want to hang on your walls.
Fun, right? Check out our printable Scripture cards to add to your own Easter Baskets!

I go overboard every year on every holiday! Bad habit I know. I love this idea and was actually pondering what to do this year! Great ideas! I may pick some of this stuff up even if I don’t win 🙂

I love your ideas for an unEaster basket! I was talking with other moms this morning at my Moms in Prayer group and we all agreed that we don’t like how the focus has become all about the Easter bunny and getting gifts! The things you’ve listed are definitely ones that will benefit our entire family! I’m still thinking about what we’ll be putting in the kids’ baskets…..but taking from your ideas for sure. we hide eggs, but just for fun, not about the Bunny! we like to make Resurrection rolls as well. Thank you!!

I bought two books about Easter this year for the kids’ baskets. I’m trying to figure out one more special and meaningful gift that points to Christ and I haven’t figured it out. I’m looking through the comments for ideas.

I was going to give my 2 and 4 (almost 3 and 5) year olds each a new bible, the Jesus Storybook Bible, and My First Hands-on Bible. We read stories out of their beginners bible fairly often, but I want to be more intentional with it, and have it be something we do each morning at breakfast. I was also wanting to get some of the Seeds cds, so it would be amazing to win this giveaway!!
