I don’t know what happened (I mean, besides life and earaches and all that kinda stuff) but we didn’t get one thing done of the Armor of God last week! I really wanted to focus on this one because I think the breastplate is so important–it guards your heart!
So, last night after dinner we made a quick little banner with a Scripture I thought gave a good word picture of what righteousness is:
The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. Psalm 18:20 NIV1984
The NIrV has a more understandable translation for the kids, so we read it, too:
The Lord has been good to me because I do what is right. He has rewarded me because I lead a pure life. Psalm 8:20 NIrV
We talked a little about being pure, doing right, being righteous, making right choices and keeping our hands clean from sin. Then we all traced our hands (including Daddy), cut them out and taped them all together. My husband read the verse out loud as I wrote it and then we all repeated after him. It turned out to be a really fun time together and I kinda love our banner!
We’ll be saying this one as often as we can because I think it shows more than just a finger-wielding father that says, “Do what’s right!”. It shows a loving Heavenly Father who rewards us when our hands (and our hearts) are pure and clean!
Oh, we also thought of two great songs while we were making this banner: Give Us Clean Hands by Chris Tomlin and Psalm 119:9 from Donut Man. Two extremes but still perfect for this verse!
{Did anyone see what word my Dayspring blocks are spelling on the mantle? Hee, hee.}

I know this isn’t the kind of comment yo are looking for, but the letters on you mantel spell Rotel! Made me laugh. Love your blog, girl!

Actually, Julie, they spell ROTFL. Which is “rolling on the floor laughing” and your comment totally made me do that! LOL!
