You know we used to live in Birmingham, right? That’s Alabama for those of you that aren’t familiar with your Southern geography. And can I tell you something? Birmingham is Southern. It’s more Southern than Atlanta. I can’t put my finger on it, but it has something to do with big bows, smocking and monograms.
Anywhoo. In just 2 weeks, the whole fam is taking a little roadtrip to Birmingham! Why? Well, there are several reasons, but the first one is because of a huge cool conference I was invited to! Lifeway’s dotMom conference (don’t you just wanna sing that like the old Yahoo.com commercial?) is September 21-22 and I’m gonna be there!
dotMom is a two day event for moms to connect and learn from other mamas. Other super cool mamas like Vicki Courtney who wrote 5 Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter/Son (which is sitting on my bedside table as we speak!), Jen Hatmaker who wrote 7 (*gulp* which is unread on my Kindle), Melissa Greene from Avalon (which as we all know sang a song written by Yancy, so that clearly makes me almost best friends with her).
There will also be workshops on stuff like parenting, marriage, adoption, healthy living, organization and more. Two of the workshops are going to be taught by my friend & Super Tommy Mommy, Sami Cone!
Plus, there is a slew of awesome bloggers (like real friends of mine!) who are going to be live-blogging and tweeting (and probably facebooking and instagramming) the whole thing!
So, why am I telling you all this?
Because you and a friend could win a ticket to the dotMom event in Birmingham! And we could meet! And chat! And become IRL friends! So, if you are in Birmingham, or close enough to Birmingham that you’d like to attend this conference for FREE with one of your friends, leave me a comment below! Any comment will do but one that says, “Ohmygoodnessgracioussakesalive, I would LOVE to meet you!” might be weighed heavier. Just a thought.
The other fun part (that you sadly don’t get to attend) is that the day before the event is Asa’s birthday. So, when we drive in to Birmingham, I’m giving him this jacket (just look at that!) and we’re going straight to the Southern Museum of Flight to get him excited for his Flying Ace Party the next weekend. Oh my goodness, I can hardly contain myself I’m so excited!
And one more fun thing? (Can you handle it?) Lydia will finally get to see the house where she was born and our old stomping grounds! She is so excited. I think I might have to get her some smocked outfits with big bows and a monogram while we’re there!
So. Which of you Southern mamas want to come to the dotMom conference?
The winner of this giveaway will receive 2 tickets ($158 value) to the dotMom conference in Birmingham, AL on September 21-22, 2012. Lodging and travel are not provided.
Lifeway invited me to the dotMom conference as a guest.

Me! I would have to figure out the logistics with a nursing baby but if I won I would figure it out. No need to put the cart before the horse! 🙂

Girl. GIRL. After knowing you for 4+ years online, I’d LOVE to hang out with you! Granted, I’d probably squeeze you too hard and laugh a little too loud for a while, but I’d even out eventually. 😉 plus, I used to live in B’ham too! I haven’t been back there in about 8 years now…
