If you haven’t joined the Facebook page, please do so! I am already so inspired by everyone there–everyone is posting fun ways they’re using the book, cute advent calendars and just adorable pics of their kids!
If you haven’t bought the book yet, don’t worry! It’s not too late! I have included lots of alternate schedules. You don’t have to do it every single day if your schedule won’t allow. But I do encourage you to do SOMETHING! Don’t let December pass you by without spending focused time on Jesus!
Oh, and I don’t know how to tell you this but, I’m leaving for Disney World today. Can you believe that crazy timing? When we planned the vacation, I had not planned on writing a book! But we are taking our ornaments with us and our cute paper chain. We’re gonna do it vacation-style! So, watch the Facebook page for how we hack our adventure for a hotel room!
I have to tell you–I don’t bring my computer on vacation. I don’t want to set the precedent. And my phone is just too old and dinosaur-ish to update on facebook or twitter. So, today, my husband came home with a brand new iPhone for me. Just so I could keep in touch with the Truth in the Tinsel fun this week! I know that is so first-world, but I am so honored by his generosity and thoughtfulness! So. I will be updating and checking in on what’s going on! Yahoooo!
Merry Truth-in-the-Tinsel!

I have a confession: we started 2 days ago! I mentioned it to my daughter that in a couple days we would be starting a new activity each day and she asked, “can we please just start now?!”. How could I resist seizing the moment! 🙂
It’s been great so far — opening the door to [brief] discussions about the true meaning of Christmas! I’m so thankful for this!!
BTW, we don’t have an advent calendar (and I didn’t want to print out all the rings), so I ended up using one of our existing Christmas decorations and “hiding” the little paper clues in it (I add a new one each night when she’s asleep). Just another [easy] option for the clues!
BTW #2, for the crown, we ended up coloring the crown instead of painting, just for ease of mess/clean-up!
Thanks sooo much for this book!

Hi there. I am from New Zealand and found your blog through the FirstLook blog. I bought your truth in the tinsel ebook and am really enjoying sharing it with my 2 wee boys. (We started yesterday as we are a day ahead of you) Thanks so much for the great idea.

I started Truth in the Tinsel today with my 19 month old boy. He is not super into crafts yet so we read the scripture, played with a flashlight in the dark, practiced blowing a candle out a few times and played with our Fisher Price Nativity while we talked it through. Thank you so much for this great resource!
I would like to buy it for a friend. How do I do that with an ebook?
I hope you’re having a great time at Disney World! My dad worked at Disneyland as a teen/young adult and we spent many a happy family vacation there.

My kids are so excited about this! Unfortunatley, we were too busy with football and cheerleading practice and a fundraising event tonight to do the craft today, but I plan on doubling up tomorrow and Saturday. My kiddos love crafts. Thanks for sharing your wonderful idea!

We were a day behind in our calendar, as we live in New Zealand (where we are 19 hours ahead of CST) and I finally sat down to get the book today. We caught up by doing two days today, and my little man went to bed saying Jesus is the “Light of the World” and the “King of Kings.” Loving it already!

So I love, love, LOVE Truth in the Tinsel! My boys ask all day long when it’s time to get down the next Advent bag (I put all the materials in bags and hung them across the window frames). It’s such a sweet time each night when we sit down together as a family, read from the Bible and see the wonderful story of Jesus’ birthday being etched into these little minds. Thank you!
Also — I’m really looking forward to your next e-book! It’ll be called Truth in the Eggs, right? (In other words, I would love for you do write something similar to do for Easter!) Enjoy your vacation! KJ
