Today we are in the mountains. Our friends have a gorgeous little cabin that they are letting us enjoy this weekend. We’re going to go bike riding, look at the leaves, listen to birds, sit in the hot tub, play cards, make cookies and generally enjoy each other’s company.
Vacations are big memory-makers. And memories are small things that hold families together. If you haven’t had a vacation in awhile, plan one today. It can be a 2 day trip to the mountains, a big trek to Disney World or just a road trip to your parents’ house. But whatever you do, use your vacation to make a memories, to enjoy each other and just each other! Do the the exciting, once-in-a-lifetime things you can’t do at home. They will be small treasures your kids will remember forever!

Any advice to give to ministry families who rarely get a weekend off and have school during the week?
It’s rough, huh? My mom was in full-time ministry my whole life while my dad worked a regular M-F job. We always did a yearly vacation, tho’…which was a highlight of our year. And my parents were good at making everyday life pretty special. And they always did ministry trips with us (as chaperones, etc.)–that’s not a family vacation, per se. But I still have memories of them on almost every trip I was a part of. Does that help?
