Asa’s Toy Story 3 birthday Party was the rootin’-est, tootin’-est party in the Wild Wild West or to infinity and beyond!
I really really wanted to do the whole party in one post. But after you see this food you’ll know why I am devoting one whole post to it. The food was quite delicious. Remember, I wanted a Woody and Buzz party. So, half the food was Cowboy and half was Space Ranger. But it was all good!
Here are the…
TOP TEN MOST DELICIOUS FOODS WE HAD AT ASA’S TOY STORY 3 WOODY AND BUZZ BIRTHDAY PARTY
1. Marshmallows on a Stick
These are all the rage, of course. But I’ll have you know that waaaay back in the day of Lydia’s 2nd Birthday–the Snowflake Party, we gave chocolate covered marshmallows on a stick as favors. If only Pinterest had been alive then!
Anyway, these were the Woody marshmallows–that’s right, Campfire S’mores on a Stick. Just poke a lollipop stick in a marshmallow, roll it in melted chocolate and then dip in graham cracker crumbs. I also dusted the whole thing in graham cracker crumbs for a more campfire-y affect. Yee-haw!
2. Aliens on a Stick
And for Buzz’s counterpart? Aliens on a Stick. I had seen this on Pinterest somewhere…but mine didn’t turn out quite as cute. I used dark green candy melts, mini marshmallows cut in half for the eyes, with a dot of green food coloring for the pupil. And well, I dunno. Maybe these are more true to life. You know, like a real alien?
3. Space Ranger Dip
Next up was Space Ranger Dip. And honestly, I don’t know why there is a bandana tied around it. Because that totally doesn’t go. Anywhoo. This is Vanderbilt Wife’s Magically Delicious Corn Dip and it basically has to show up at every party and event I’m at.
4. Boiled Peanuts
Boiled Peanuts seemed like perfect cowboy food. Plus, you can make them in a crockpot, so that means I have to do NOTHING. I got these mini plastic Toy Story bags in Target’s Dollar Spot like 5 months ago and they ended up being perfect for boiled peanuts!
{For anyone interested, I used 2 pounds of raw peanuts. I threw them in the crockpot, covered it with water and added about 1/4 cup of salt. And the peanuts floated. I think like 1/2 of them were above the water. I was a little concerned they wouldn’t all cook, but I stuck the top on anyway, put the crockpot on LOW and let them cook overnight. The next morning, I stirred them a little and let them cook another couple of hours. They were completeley fine and cooked all the way through! Easy!}
5. Pizza Planet Pizza Rolls
How perfect is pizza for a Toy Story party? And if you notice there ARE no pizza rolls on this dish because they were still cooking. But the point here is: LOOK HOW CUTE THAT SIGN IS! Did you notice the Cowboy versions in the other pictures?
I made them.
Yes, I did! I bought Britt-ish Design’s Space Ranger and Toy Sheriff digital scrapbooking kits and just whipped it up in Photoshop Elements. How much do you love those?!
6. Round Up/Space Ranger Spin Applesauce
I bought this awesome All About Boys scrapbook paper at JoAnn’s that was full of paper for cowboys, space rangers, robots, dinosaurs and other boy stuff. So, my mom and I traced the applesauce tops on the scrapbook paper, cut out the circles and taped them on. This was super simple and a great kid food.
For some reason we did Outer Space paper with a Cowboy sign. Whatever.
7. Alien Juice
This is a yummy lime punch I found on Pinterest. And apparently I mis-read it because I thought it was supposed to be slushy. It wasn’t. So, if you make it, don’t freeze the limeade (see those icebergs in there?). Just mix it and serve. Oh, and I did add 2 drops of green food coloring.
8. Root Beer
ACK!
NO PICTURE OF THE ROOT BEER?
THE INHUMANITY!
It was just IBC. Cute, but apparently not photo-worthy. Just make sure you put them in the fridge the night before so they are nice and frosty!
9. Cake
Of course, my amazingly talented bff, Staci made the cake. (Speaking of which, she is hosting 31 Days to Become a Better Baker on her blog. And after seeing this cake and cupcakes, you are going to want to read every single post!) She always always outdoes herself. And this year was no exception.
This is Asa’s candle cake. Everyone else got cupcakes, but Asa had his own mini-cake complete with the Toy Story 3 font! Isn’t that awesome?!
10. The Most Amazing and Awesome Toy Story 3 Cupcakes EVER
I told Staci I was doing the whole half Cowboy-half Space Ranger thing and she absolutely NAILED the cupcakes. First of all, she made some fabu Cowboy cupcakes. Let’s inspect them, shall we?
Yellow icing with red sprinkles. Hmmm…where have I seen that before? OH YEAH! Woody’s plaid shirt!
A chocolate boot on top? “There’s a snake in my boot!”
And look at that wood-grain scrapbook paper as a cupcake wrapper.
Perfection.
And now, my fave. The Buzz Lightyear cupcake. First the perfect Buzz Lightyear-Purple frosting on the bottom. With a clear Space Ranger helmet on top! And what was that clear helmet? Some high-priced cupcake topper from Wilton? NOPE. It’s half of a CHRISTMAS BALL ORNAMENT! How clever is she?! That little clear helmet/ball is sealed all around with Buzz Lightyear-green frosting and topped off with 2 purple skittles. If Buzz Lightyear were a cupcake, this would be him. Genius, Staci! You’re like the Disney Bound of cupcakes!
Would someone PLEASE pin those cupcakes so the whole world can see?!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
