Hosting a Lingerie Shower & Bachelorette Party: Top Ten {Tuesday}

top ten list

I may have mentioned a time or twelvethat my sister-in-law is getting married this week. I may NOT have mentioned that she is a mere 24 years old. Making me an entire DECADE older than her. And I’m also a bridesmaid. Which means I was invited to the bachelorette party. And hosted the lingerie shower at my house.

I can’t even tell you the last time I was at a Bachelorette Party–and I’ve certainly never been to one of someone 10 years younger than me! I have to admit, I was a little concerned about my wardrobe (or lack thereof) and my moms-shouldn’t-go-to-clubs outlook on life.

Now that I’m the other side of both events, I thought you might like to know the

TOP TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW WHEN ATTENDING OR HOSTING A BACHELORETTE PARTY AND/OR A LINGERIE SHOWER {ESPECIALLY FOR SOMEONE YOUNGER THAN YOU}

(ahhh, that’s the first good title I’ve had in awhile!)

1. Don’t Be Afraid of Looking Too Old

We all ended up wearing bright pink baby tiaras on our heads. Pretty sure no one was noticing if I was wearing the latest in club-wear. Just trying to figure out why I had a pink crown on my head.

2. Don’t Be Afraid To Eat

Of course, I’ve never really had this problem. But the tapas restaurant we went to was pretty divine–here’s our calamari…

..and scallops. I also had chicken nachos, a fish taco and some chocolate cake. Pretty nice.

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Be Silly

We all wore glitter tattoos and name tags. The name tags were my favorite part because I got to write everyone’s names. You know I like to doodle.

But of course, my name was the best:

4. Don’t Be Afraid To Wear a Tube Top

Actually. Do be afraid of this. VERY VERY afraid.

(Yes, this is one of those let-me-pretend-to-take-a-picture-of-you-so-I-can-really-take-a-picture-of-some-other-weird-person-behind-you.)

5. Don’t Be Afraid to Dance.

Actually. I didn’t get any pictures of this. Not because I was on the dance floor. Oh no. Just because I was too busy scoping out Tubey (see above) and the other interesting folks on the prowl. Midnight at a dance club is people watching at it’s finest.

6. Don’t be Afraid to Be Girly

The next night was the lingerie shower. We did it all pink and black. But mainly pink. It was actually a very sweet and grown-up affair. I kinda loved it.

7. Don’t Be Afraid to Eat

Oh, did I already mention this? Well, no offense to the bride but I think the food was the star of this shower. Catie (the maid of honor and sister of the bride) and I just typed in “party food” on Pinterest and got started. Above you’ll see mini-caprese salads (a piece of mozzarella, a grape tomato skewered with a piece of basil around it, drizzled with balsamic vinegar!)

Next up was Mini Chicken Tostadas. This is a simple little dish to make. And it looks cute while tasting delicious. (We had the leftovers for lunch today!)

8. Don’t Be Afraid of Bacon

We made those bacon-wrapped-parmesan-crackers from the Pioneer Woman and ate every last one. *happy sigh*

Then the best dish of the night—our Bloomin’ Bread with Bacon. How amazingly awesome is that?! A giant loaf of sourdough bread cut up like the latitude and longitude of the globe, filled with pieces of sliced cheese and swimming in melted butter, a tablespoon of Ranch mix and a 1/2 cup of bacon. You love me right now, don’t you?

But if you can believe it, I actually liked this Bloomin’ Onion Bread better—Monterrey Jack cheese (thinly sliced), 1/2 cup of butter, 2 teaspoons of poppy seeds and a 1/2 cup of green onions. I seriously want to eat this for dinner.

9. Don’t Be Afraid to Show a Little Skin

We hung up all the bride’s lingerie on a clothesline. It was instant decor we didn’t have to provide! But now I’m wondering if it’s bad form to show a bride’s lingerie on my blog.

10. Don’t Be Afraid to Be Out-Shined By The Bride
