Full: Five Minute Friday

Full.

Empty.

They are both really good. I love being full. Full of my dad’s Eggs Benedict. Full of the Flying Biscuit’s Creamy Dreamy Grits. Full of orange juice at breakfast. (Hmmm…do I like breakfast?)

I love being full of my kids’ kisses, my husband’s admiration, my family’s interest. I love my @ replies on twitter being full of happy tweets. I love full comment boxes. I love full Pinterest boards.

I love a pocket full of look-what-I-accomplished-today.

But I also like empty.

Empty inbox. Empty dishwasher. Empty to-do list.

Empty expectations.

Empty of the urgent.

Empty of self.

When I can empty out my thoughts, my mind and the space around me, that’s when I can really be full.

Full of what God has for me. The plans He’s designed.

“I have come that [Amanda] may have life, and have it to the full.” -Jesus (John 10:10)

How very true, we wouldn’t fully understand being full unless we understood empty as well. I really loved this 5 minute Friday topic. Have a full Friday!

It’s so cool in God’s kingdom, everything is backwards…to be full, you have to be empty.

My favorite line this Friday, “I love a pocket full of look-what-I-accomplished-today.”

Yes, love that. And then you went and quoted my favorite verse as well. I love that you put your name into it. I do that as well – changes the impact, doesn’t it? And that is my little Zoe’s name verse – since Zoe means life and all. And it’s the reason I now own the *entire* Life to the Full Collection from DaySpring. GorGEOUS living reminder every day I’m filling my tummy that also helps fill my soul.

    Happy Friday kisses to YOU!

    xx

Love the contrast between full and empty and the positive spin on empty ! When I think empty, I usually look at it as a negative, but it doesn’t have to be ! Bravo Amanda on some great thoughts this morning, they inspired me !

Simply beautiful! I think of full as better than empty most days. But your right, empty is good, especially when it makes room for the good God has for us.

Amazing these dreams we dream. I had one rctenely that still boggles my mind during my waking hours.Isn’t it interesting the specifics of a dream and how bizarre they seem. I know that they all mean something… only in a different code that, I guess, we just need to decipher. Some dreams sure make you wonder….

I love how you contrasted FULL with EMPTY! I love empty (checked off) to do lists and an empty sink. LORD FILL ME with YOU!

Full enough to be happy, empty enough to have room in our pockets for the wonderful things God places in our paths.
I guess that’s the perfect measure after all.

    Peace!

Facebook HAS gotten out of control. So much stress and now there’s tons of nudes. :/ It was supposed to be Facebook…not Pornbook, and I myself feel like Facebook gets and keeps teenagers out of control. Many of them feel like it’s a horrible choice but hopefully they’ll see, “Either my life has gotten better..or theres less drama and bitching…”!

Amazing blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused ..
    Any recommendations? Appreciate it!

I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard
    on. Any tips?
