…when my husband has to go to the doctor for an endoscopy
…and I have to sit in the lobby for an hour with two kids
…and they have a TV in the lobby that is showing a 59 minute story about a girl being kidnapped out of the hospital and being separated from her family for 23 years
…and then your daughter freaking out because your husband comes into the waiting room in a wheelchair and a blank stare because he just woke up from anesthesia
…and then go pick up a prescription while the kids (and husband) are sleeping and the pharmacist has to type your husband’s name into the computer 3 times because the computer was about to die
…and then the insurance won’t pay for the presciption until the doctor gives a verbal ok
…so you leave after wandering the aisles of CVS for 35 minutes
…and when you get home your daughter opens the door because she manipulated your drugged husband to get out of her nap early
Oh, wait! Was this supposed to be Things I *LOVE* Thursday? Oops. Sorry, Diaper Diaries, I’ll try again next week…

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
