Top Ten {Tuesday}

in top ten tuesday

1. Have you ever had one of those days?

2. The one where your son drops a cup of milk on the ground? And it breaks? And it wasn’t his cup to begin with?

3. The kind of day where you think you’re just having a conversation and then it turns into an argument?

4. The day where your daughter starts crying because you won’t obey HER?

5. The one where  your son also spills an entire of water on the ground?

6. And the day that is punctuated by whining of all shapes and sizes?

7. The kind of day when early naps and early bedtimes are the only way you can cope?

8. The day when you sit down to eat oreos and raw milk and don’t even care how absolutely contradictory that is?

9. The kind of day where you wish you could just go to your extra bedroom, crawl in the bed and come out in say…a month?

10. Yeah, me neither.

{I’ll be back with more Christmasy Top Ten posts next week!}

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas…

by oh amanda on November 29, 2010

in christmas

Thanksgiving is over. It’s not even December, but hey–it might as well be Christmas. For about the last 3 weeks I have had so much traffic on my Christmas posts, I thought I’d put some of them together for your viewing pleasure. Go on, grab a Reese’s Peanut Butter Christmas Tree (you know you’ve got one hiding in your cupboard…oh, is that just me?) and get ready for Christmas…

One Last Thing Before Thanksgiving…or is it Christmas?

by oh amanda on November 24, 2010

{this picture has nothing to do with the post, other than I’m thankful for adorable Woody pajamas!}

The kids are watching Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, I’ve got a list of food to cook and there are 5 boxes of Christmas decorations sitting in our dining room. How has Thanksgiving become the starting line for Christmas? Poor overlooked Thanksgiving.

We were going to get our tree today–my husband demands that the tree sit in the garage for 24 hours before we put it up. Supposedly the branches fall down to their right position and something else really important. I think it’s just torture to have a blank Christmas tree in the garage. (Oh, but we’re not getting it because he’s going to a concert tonight…Hmph.)

Anyway, I found the most awesome Christmas tree lot this year!  The mens’ small groups from a local church go to Boone, NC to collect trees then they all volunteer to sell the trees throughout the season and all the money goes to to local charities that help abused children and exploited girls. I’m so excited about it!

The reason I even looked it up is because a few years ago we bought our tree and all the money went to Young Life. I just hate the idea of spending $50 on a dead tree that is in your house for 3 weeks. Talk about a waste of money! But when the money goes to helping people? I love this!!

If you’re in Atlanta check out Northbrook UMC in Roswell for your Christmas tree! If you’re not local, try googling “christmas tree lot benefits charity” and your town. You never know what you might find!

OK. I’m off to make the Cheeseball from Heaven, Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Pecans and Spiced Maple Sauce (I think I’m just gonna dice the sweet potatoes and mix the sauce, then throw it all in a ziploc bag so I can dump it out and cook tomorrow!), Swedish Apple Pie and Sausage and Herb Stuffing (is this something I can put together today and cook tomorrow? I’ve never ever made stuffing before!).

Oh, and one more last thing? If you didn’t get to pack a box for Operation Christmas Child, you can Build A Box online and they’ll put it together and send it for you! How cool is that?!

OK. That’s all. For real. Enjoy your weekend with your family! I’m so thankful for you!

Me: Asa, what does a horse say? Asa: Yee-haw! My blog was a little quiet this weekend because we took a tour of South Georgia! My mother-in-law has like 6 brothers and sisters and every year they do a Thanksgiving family-reunion type get-together. Well, we haven’t been in several years and this year the party [...]
