Oh, I love this verse! I have to be honest, when I grabbed this picture to post today I didn’t remember the verse. I’m guessing Lydia may not remember it either because it’s not one we’ve said over and over like some of them. But now that I look at it again, I think it’s one she needs in her heart and mind!
She’s almost 5 years old and her dependence on me is definitely waning. She needs to know that her help comes from the Lord. Not depending on herself, her parents or her friends for every thought and decision, but depending on the Lord! Who am I kidding? I need to be reminded of this verse, too!
Back to the craft. I thought I could cut out a monkey from craft foam. Well…it kinda looks like a pig. And even after I added a banana to it, well, it still looks like a pig. Oh well. I never said I was an artist.
I have the perfect book to go with this verse and monkey activity. It’s called No, No, Noah!by Dandi Daley Mackall. It’s about a little monkey who doesn’t want to leave his safe tree for the mysterious and unknown ark. Noah asks him to pray and trust God. The monkey does and then has a fun time exploring the ark and its new inhabitants. This is actually a whole series of picture books called, “I’m Not Afraid”.
For my Lydia and lots of other young children, being afraid of new places and trying new things is when they need to realize that their help comes from the Lord!
