We sang this song at church last week. And it was like hearing it for the first time. By the time the song was done, I had tears streaming down my face. On this Christmas Day, when you have a second, would you slowly read the words? Pretend you never heard Josh Groban or Nat King Cole sing it and just read it. Let the words tell the story directly to your heart…
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O’er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
Merry Christmas, dear friends!

How funny, in that I did the same thing this year. A couple of weeks ago I heard it sung in a choir and teared up. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas (yesterday!)

Girl…we went to see the Gaither Homecoming Christmas tour at the Gwinnett Civic Center a few weeks ago, and let me tell you SOMETHING sister….
This was the very last song they sang, and if you have never heard DAVID PHELPS sing it, well then-you are missing something!
The completely blacked out the arena, and all you could hear was his voice. About half-way thru the song, they started lifting the lights up, and by the time the song was finished, everyone was standing and shouting.
That song is possibly one of the very BEST Christmas songs ever!

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
