Last night we went to the Phillips Arena in downtown Atlanta to see Disney on Ice! I know what you’re thinking: Disneyland and Disney on Ice in two weeks?! Could I be any more Disney-fied?! (Why, yes I could, actually. Did I tell you I made it to the SECOND round of the Disney Moms Panel?!! WHEEEE!)
Anyway, I got to go to Disney on Ice because I’m part of Mom Central and they offered up some free tickets! (If you’d like to, you can do the same. You don’t have to be a blogger. Mom Central is a great site that just wants to start buzz for other companies. Very fun.)
Anywhoo, I don’t think I’ve ever been to an ice skating show before. It was so cool. Literally. Chilly. Ha!
Of course, I thought they were awesome skaters. But what do I know? I’ve only been ice skating about 4 times. The last of which was when I was about 14. (I did see one of the guys fall. But maybe he was just nervous because we were there.)
The show was (in case you are here via google to see what happens) entitled Celebrations and was about different holidays…well, kinda. The first holiday was your UNbirthday. It was a combo Mickey & Pals with Alice and her friends. You never see Alice in Wonderland stuff, so this was fun. Somehow this transitioned to Mickey and the magical brooms from Fantasia. I don’t quite remember how that happened. Mainly it was so we could get to the next holiday:
HALLOWEEN
This segment was hosted by Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas and special guests: Captain Hook, Wicked Witch 1, 2 & 3, Cruella DeVille, Jafaar and Captain Hook.
WHICH IS WHY LYDIA STARTED SCREAMING AND POUNDING ON LES’ BACK AND KICKING UNTIL HE TOOK HER OUT OF THE ARENA.
Yeah, so that was fun.
Finally Mickey and the gang scared the villains away (random). Lydia came down from the ceiling because next up was Valentine’s Day and THE PRINCESSES. Oh, in plural. We saw Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Mulan, Jasmine and Tiana the new Princess from The Princess and the Frog! And oh, she’s cute!
Pretty soon the story got a little confusing when the next holiday was SUMMER VACATION but, we went with it because the first stop was Hawaii with Lilo & Stitch! Mickey & Minnie also hit up Japan and China. Then back to Nola for some more Frog Princess-y singin’ and dancin’. The grand finale was CHRISTMAS. Don’t worry, they never actually said the word CHRISTMAS. You know, because it is SO offensive.
It really was fun and I would totally go again—especially if no villains were involved. I saw on the Disney on Ice website that there are like 5 different shows–including one that has all the Disney Fairies! Why didn’t that one come to the ATL?!
Before the show, we went to a Meet & Greet (where I neither meeted nor greeted anyone) to meet some of the MomCentral/Feld Entertainment folks. We got a fun bag of goodies including four giant Mickey party hats. Les would not wear his, but Lydia and I wore them most of the night. Well, most of the next five minutes anyway.
So, if you are in Atlanta and would like to see Disney on Ice, it’s running until October 18. And if you buy via ticketmaster.com and enter coupon code: MOM you can get 4 tickets for $44 or $4 off each ticket. That’s a pretty good deal! (By the way, we were in Section 105 Row J and the seats were AMAZING.)

Have you ever been to an Ice Skating show before? Disney on Ice? Ice Capades? (Once my parents were in Vegas, I think, with my grandmother and went to an Ice Skating show only to discover it was t*pl*ss skaters. Can you say SHOCKING?!)
I was given four tickets to Disney on Ice for free by Mom Central & Feld Entertainment. I was asked (but they did not demand or twist my arm) to share the coupon code and my experience on my blog and/or with my friends. This postscript is for the dear FTC drones who are checking my blog to see if I disclosed this before they slap me with a fine for taking my kids to Disney on Ice and blogging it. Ahem.

Please don’t tell me that my tickets for December may be for an all fairy show! I don’t think my two boys will handle that one well!
We got opening night tickets for $12 each. Our seats are actually pretty good!
I’m glad all of you had a good time. CONGRATS on the Mom Panel! When will you know more? (My life has been so crazy that I didn’t even apply this year. I don’t think my husband can handle much more Disney for awhile. We are all still somewhat traumatized by our summer trip, lol!)

And puh-lease don’t get me started on a soapbox. You mentioned 2 of my favories: Christmas AND FTC and bloggers. My, oh my (appropriate for you?). We could get on our soapboxes together and do some dancing, I do believe.

Glad you had a nice time! My daughter was 3.5 when we went to Disney last year and she had only been exposed to the Princesses so her reactions to the villans was quite hysterical. She is now afraid of all disneyword shows and tells me when we go back she doesn’t want to see any. Of course, the shows are my favorite part! I felt so bad for traumatizing her….I should’ve thought that one through! Congrat on getting so far on the Mom’s Panel. Let us know if you get it! how exciting!

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
