Have you read Fancy Nancy*? I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it–I mean, we’re pretty princess-ed out around here and just how many sequins can you have? But I picked it up at the bookstore and fell in love with it! It’s a sweet vocab book about the love of a family!
Today our library had a Fancy Nancy Soiree and Lydia was invited! She picked out her very own fancy outfit. The blue clippies are from a Dora the Explorer doll, the other clip is a snowflake and you can’t see it, but her left hand is holding an American flag. She was very specific about bringing the flag.
We arrived and walked into a room filled with fancy little girls. I tried not to giggle at all of them but I couldn’t help it–they were so cute and SO serious! The librarian (also dressed verrrry fancy) read the original Fancy Nancy* book and Fancy Nancy and the Boy from Paris *. Then we got to design our very own tiara and fancy glasses.
After a rousing rendition of F-A-N-C-Y (aka B-I-N-G-O), we set off on a Fancy Library Parade. And oh, was it fun! The girls waved to all the studious people in the library. (Who of course giggled and waved back.)
Asa, of course, was having none of it. He brought a brown and yellow moth toy AND wore his MONSTER PARTY shirt just to show how UNfancy he is.
KIDDING. He loved it. I had to pull him out of the librarian’s lap during story time AND extract several golden slippers and sequined tiaras from his mouth.

I LOVE Fancy Nancy and so does Caroline!!! I was introduced to her by a friend of mine who has a five year old little girl. Her little girl’s last birthday party was a Fancy Nancy party and it was adorable! Even the boys had to dress fancy! 🙂 I just had to see what all the fuss was about after that. We bought one book and have checked others out from the library, and just last weekend my mother-in-law (who is one of those crazy doll ladies – hehe) bought Caroline a Fancy Nancy doll! So cool! 🙂 Thanks for sharing! I bet that was adorable!

I would be so lost at a Fancy Nancy party! In fact, I would be the one girl wearing a Monster Party shirt like Asa!
I love it when libraries have such creative ideas to encourage a love of reading (and characters)!

Oh yes! Fancy Nancy rocks our world. DD #2 (Katherine, 5) had a Fancy Nancy birthday party back in May and she owns *every single* Fancy Nancy book there is thanks to my aunt and mom! Here’s a link to the Fancy Birthday party invite and photos:

It was fun to do. Of course, my mom, aunt and sister did it all. I did the cake, the “craft,” read the original book and showed up with the Birthday Girl. But it was *so* much fun! The girls loved it.

Why do I feel like I’ve been gone forever!?! Oh, because I have been! Sorry! Seriously, though… when did Asa get so big?! Looks like Lydia had a big time. I think I would have too!

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

I drop a comment when I like a article on a site or I have something to contribute to the discussion. It is a result of the passion displayed in the post I looked at. And after this article Soir?©e Is a Fancy Word for Party | ohamanda.com. I was actually excited enough to drop a thought 🙂 I do have 2 questions for you if you usually do not mind. Is it just me or does it look like like a few of the comments appear like left by brain dead folks? 😛 And, if you are posting at additional places, I would like to keep up with anything fresh you have to post. Could you list every one of all your social sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
