I Am Not an Island

Yesterday was another one of those days. When my husband came home he asked Lydia, “What did you do today?” And I could not give him a good answer. I mean, yeah, we did the dishes. And played Cariboo one time. But besides that it was a lot of nothing. I hate days like that.

Anyway, I was feeling kind of yucky about…everything. Then I got a comment from my bbb Annie. It was beautiful and right to the heart of what I was feeling. Then I clicked over to Shannon’s blog (which I haven’t read since I cleaned out my feedreader) and read this post. A few tears later I was leaving a comment thanking her for reminding me I’m not alone. Then last night I went to a meeting for church. It was about the new school year and our new classrooms for the Preschool department. I love hearing about our church’s heart and goal and mission to love kids. But I also got to talk to so many women who were encouraging me and loving me and telling me they were praying for me. I heard their stories about raising a 3 year old child. I listened as they recounted their experiences. I was relieved when they listened with genuine interest (I hope!) to the re-telling of my week.

My sloshy, yucky, wallow-y day was turned around by a few words from my friends. I feel like the kid who is hoarding a bag of candy to savor and enjoy for several days. I’m holding those words in my pocket for when another of those days arise.

Thank you, friends!

Oh, sweetie… isn’t that so amazing? God plants those that we need at the exact moment we need them – to speak through them right to our hearts. You definitely are not alone in this – I’m just 8 hours away, going through the same stuff. And mothers of 3 year olds everywhere are crying with us. Thankfully we can look to Him!!!

Horray for believers who encourage one another!!!

***you know what? I realized this week that your blog posts were not being updated in my bloglines!!! I see your updates on FB so it took longer to figure out that I was missing my OhAmanda-ness! Have no fear, the problem has been fixed. Yay! 🙂

I know it’s not always easy, but now that my girls are all grown up with their own little ones, I long to go back, to the good and the bad. I miss my babies, not that my new grandbabies aren’t the most incredible things in the world, but having the opportunity to see their changes daily is missed. Their innocence, the love for learning and seeing new things is to be cherished. More good happens than bad and even though you are not busy each and every day, one day you will wish you had that day you can’t remember what you did. Enjoy it all, it’s gone in a flash.

Oh girl I LOVE reading your blog updates and seeing your expressions as you re-tell the story just makes it even better!!! I’m so happy to have met you and really do appreciate your heart, I love that God spoke to you through a lesson with the wee one…it is hard and I’m sure I’ll experience it one day, but I love learning ahead of time.

You talked of needing a scripture earlier and I just got around to it..you are a saint. Thx for sharing!

    Philemon 1:7
Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.
