My favoritest favorite most fave recipe of all times is Chicken Divan. Yeah, I know there are all kinds of Chicken Divan recipes. But the one I’m going to share with you today is legend…wait for it…ary. (That was for my Barney fans!)
My Aunt Nelda (who isn’t really my aunt but a great friend of my grandmother’s) found this recipe in the newspaper. It was supposedly President Lyndon B. Johnson’s favorite food. Aunt Nelda must have served it up good because it’s a classic for my family. My parents have made it for every special event they’ve ever catered, for guests that come to town and for my brother and me when we wanted comfort food. Now, it’s my favorite dish to bring to new moms, sick folk and people who just need some food-love.
And today, I’m linking up with Jessie’s Family Recipe Fridays to share it with you!
Ingredients
cooked chicken breasts (I boil 1-2 and then shred it with a fork)
bag of frozen brocolli
2 cups (+/-) shredded cheddar cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 tablespoon- 1/4 cup of mayo
curry powder to taste
cooked rice
Directions
1. Layer 13x9ish glass pan with broccoli, chicken and cheese.
2. In a bowl, mix together soups and mayo. Stir until uniform color. Add curry. Pour over broccoli/chicken/cheese.
3. Sprinkle a dash of curry for decoration.
4. Bake at 350ish for 30-45 minutes. (The longer you cook it the yummier it is.)
5. Serve over rice.
That’s all! How easy is that? I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. (Even after those 12 Oreos I just ate.)
I have good memories of eating Chicken Divan and when I bring this to someone’s house or serve it up for visitors–it’s not just food, it’s a part of me and my family. It’s love!

Yummy, thanks for sharing! Weirdly, I have not heard of Chicken Divan. Clearly I need to crawl out of the rock under which I’ve been living! xo Christine
