It’s been one of those days. Well. it actually started last night when my husband and I sat on the couch after the kids went to bed. We weren’t talking–just sitting. Nexxt thingh you know we were both asleep on the couch and didn’t wake up for 2 hours! That put me at the grocery store at 9:30pm.
When I got home Les was installing door knobs. Fun times. Anyway, I decided I’d go ahead and post my retro photo because I found a great one! It’s not black and white…it’s only 16 years old. That’s right, I found my 16th birthday party pics. Well, I sat down to scan them. And you know how much I detest my scanner. And true to form, my scanner was out of black ink and therefore couldn’t scan. Which makes PERFECT sense.
I tried for far too long to get it to work and finally went to bed at midnight. My sweet Asa slept all the way until 3:30. I fed him then put ourselves back to bed. Only to be awaken by his cheery screams at 6:30. Even after nursing him and playing with Lydia he was unhappy. So unhappy that I put him back to bed after only being awake an hour. He fell right to sleep (well, maybe a cheery cry or two…)
And as he was napping, Lydia and I scrubbed the playroom bathroom, picked up toys, vacuumed and generally made our playroom/guest room livable. “What a great day!” I thought to myself. “I’m getting so much done. This house will be spic and span by the time my cousins get her toni—”
WWAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
And that is the noise I heard for the next hour. It did not matter if Asa was being held, sitting on the floor, in his bed or in the saucer–he just cried. What do you do for a crying baby that can’t be comforted? That’s just it. The question answers itself. I HAVE NO IDEA.
Anyway, this is the longest compaining post about how my usually exceptionally happy baby is making me stressed while my house doesn’t clean itself and my scanner STILL refuses to scan so I can’t show you a picture of me at 16 in an old prom dress. And now I’ll have to apologize for stealing those four minutes it took to read this post. I’m sorry you won’t get those minutes back.
Did I mention I’m nursing at the keyboard? Sorry for the typos.

I tell you. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. 🙂 Hang in there, girl. It will get better. Or so they tell me. 😉

Sounds like he may either be teething really bad or possibly have an ear infection. Sometimes it would be so much easier if they just came out talking. 😀
Hang in there, this too shall pass.

Aw, I hope Asa has stopped crying. Maybe he is getting a tooth? Teething was very hard on us. I hope you have fun with your house guests, though. Hugs….

Girl, complain all you want. We’ve all been there. For example… Max had one of those inconsolable days when he was about Asa’s age and it turned out he had an ear infection, but he’d never had one, he wasn’t tugging on his ear, no fever (yet) – just crying. To top it off Josh was out of town AND I was babysitting my nephew. I finally put all three kids in the car and drove around, only to be followed by a police car for several miles (I was crying at this point.) I finally pulled into a church parking lot and walked him around in 90 degree heat until he fell asleep. Later that night he started running a fever, so we had a bad night to top it off, but we went to the doctor the next day and that’s when it all made sense. Oh, motherhood…

Did you check his toes? One time one of mine wouldn’t stop screaming and it turned out he got a hair in his sock wrapped around his toe.
Maybe he’s teething?

Girl, it’s teething or an ear infection and this too shall pass! I’m glad to hear you complain because it makes my life and bad days feel more normal.

I agree on the teething or ear infection. That is the only time I have found my babies to be inconsolable. Big hugs to you. I hope he settles down for you.

Hope things are better today. And kudos to you for being able to nurse and type at the same time. Whew. A feat I am not sure I’d be able to pull off.

I had to laugh at you nursing at the keyboard since my laptop is always on my lap when I am nursing my 3 mo old. Hope Asa is having better days now.

Oh friend, I’m so there with you. So there…
