Contest closed…the winner is Katie from All Places In Between!
When I was packing up for the cruise, I stuck a few books in my bag. I’m going to be sharing most of them with you in the next week or so. But this one book, If Tomorrow Never Comes, I was supposed to share with you WHILE I was on the cruise. But alas, Mickey clouded my vision and I didn’t post about it.
I figured I’d have lots of time to read. I mean, it’s a cruise. Vacation. There were grandparents there. But I don’t think I even cracked a page open. And it’s too bad because this book intrigued me.
First of all it’s written by Marlo Schalesky. She graduated from Stanford and has a Masters in Theology from Fuller. I just admire anyone who has a Masters in Theology. I took Theology in College and *whew* it ain’t just Bible stories, that’s for sure.
Anyway, here’s a little recap for you:
Childhood sweethearts Kinna and Jimmy Henley had simple dreams—marriage, children, a house by the sea… Everything they needed for happily ever after. What they didn’t plan on was years of infertility, stealing those dreams, crushing their hopes. Now, all that’s left is the memory of young love, and the desperate need for a child to erase the pain. Until…
When Kinna rescues an elderly woman from the sea, the threads of the past, present, and future weave together to reveal the wonder of one final hope. One final chance to follow not their dreams, but God’s plan. Can they embrace the redemptive power of love before it’s too late? Or will their love be washed away like the castles they once built upon the sand?
Doesn’t it sound good? This book is part of Love Stories with a Twist! series, and according to Multnomah, this title is “especially near to Marlo’s heart as her family struggled with infertility for several years. One in six families, Marlo reports, face this particular trial and yet infertility is rarely discussed in church. Marlo’s passion is to minister to families in this position, to women especially, and remind them of the big, marvelous and unexpected plans of God that exceed any expectation.”
It’s so true. I don’t think I ever knew anyone who struggled with infertility in real life. But once I got online and into parenting forums and blogs, I realized how incredibly widespread and for some reason hidden this problem is!
Anyway, if you are interested in reading If Tomorrow Never Comes—buy it paperbackswap it leave me a comment and I’ll random a winner on Sunday!
PS–If you look over in my sidebar I’ve got a link to The Oh Shop. It’s just a nice cozy little home for all the books I’ve reviewed or blogged about. Plus it’s purple. And I think you should click on it.
