I’m Just Not That High Maintenance

I think I’ve had the same pair of brown Kenneth Cole sandals since we lived in Orlando. I bought them when I was doing substitute teaching and still they are my favorites.

My favorite pair of jeans were bought at Rugged Warehouse. It’s one of those places that carries imperfect jeans and sells them at like .o1% of the original price.

I have never had curtains in any of the seven homes where I’ve lived. I still don’t have a bedside table.

And I have never ever bought myself a pair of frivolous shoes or a coat just because it was cute. I’m just not like that. I’m not a shopper.

I’m the kind of person who looks at a mannequin and says, “I’ll take that.” I’m not good at picking things out and pieceing them together. That’s why online shopping is so attractive to me.

So, it should come as no shock to my husband when I could care less which ceiling fan my children have in their rooms. Today we spent way too long at Home Depot looking at ceiling fans, bathroom lighting, hall lights and chandeliers.

My husband was inspecting them all and thinking about their lifetime warranty, internal wiring and general likability for the next decade. While I was basically playing Pick A B or C. He finally said, “I can tell you’re not interested in this. Why don’t you go home?”

So, now I’m at home with two napping kids while my hubby picks out the interior of my new home. And that’s just the way I like it!

Nothing is more fun to me than picking out things for a home. I could shop all day every day, if I had money. Kenny and I don’t agree on anything, but he does like what we finally fininsh with.

Oh my goodness! My husband and I are the complete opposite of you and yours. I’m the one studying and comparing and pouring over all my options, while my husband stands indifferently by my side telling me “either one is fine with me, let’s go eat now.” sigh. It’s definitely our differences that make relationships function well. πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see what your hubby picks out!

I’m probably somewhere between you and your husband! I don’t like to shop and I have a hard time making decisions. But when it comes to things like lighting, I want it to be right.

GIRL! Let me come and do your decisions. I LOVE THAT STUFF! I’m sorry to say that Josh didn’t get to say much about what… eh-hem… “we”… picked out for the house.

Curtains – “I have never had curtains” … completely agree with you – me either!

“I still don’t have a bedside table.” – me too!

“And I have never ever bought myself a pair of frivolous shoes” … OK – stop right there! I know I’ve seen a pair of bright purple sneakers on your feet before (b/c I had the matching green ones!) – and those were not needed. FRIVOLOUS all the way!!! But wait, maybe it doesn’t count b/c your parents would have still bought those:)

I like shopping, but being home with napping kids is pretty good, too!

I WISH Josh and I were like that, but he actually has an opinion, and of course, I do, too. We get deadlocked sometimes because we disagree on styles. However, I must say that I picked out two light fixtures recently without him and he was impressed. Maybe I should just surprise him from now on and we might actually get to have curtains, too!

Oh, funny — we were at Home Depot last night looking at ceiling fans! We need to replace the one in the room that will be for the baby.

I didn’t know you once lived in Orlando — now your tweet makes more sense. πŸ™‚

my hubby and I are the exact opposite of your two. I love it, it works great. I need to take my time, consider options….hubby wants to get in buy the item and get out. That being said I’m very frugal and haven’t shopped in a long time but I still like it πŸ™‚
Didn’t I see a pic of you in red heels….? I am jealous

Me too! When we built our house, my husband would ask me about every little decision for the fixtures, and I just didn’t have an opinion. I would much rather send him out shopping for those things than tag along!

Guess I’d be considered high maintenance. BG

I feel the same way…I don’t want a bunch of choices… Most times I’d like for you to choose FOR me! πŸ™‚

Luckyyyyy. We argued over ever little thing. If a couple can get through that, it can get through anything πŸ™‚

Ha! I’m overly “shoppy”. I love the hunt! Of course, the 2YO and 7MO make the online shopping a necessity. But I do miss the hunting and gathering.

You know what? Together we’d make a normal girl! πŸ™‚

Can you do me a favor and please NEVER tell my husband that women like you exist? I think keeping him in the dark on this one will make him happier in the long run. πŸ˜‰
