I just realized I haven’t kept you updated on the house hunt! The dream house I previously mentioned is a no-go. But a few days later, Les was looking online and found another house that looked too good to be true. We called our real estate agent, Gayle (long-time friend AND an oh-amanda-comment-er!) and said, “Can we see it first thing in the morning?” We got there at 9am and there was another couple staking out the house, too!
Long story short, this house is BEAUTIFUL and we made an offer on it that afternoon. If you know my husband you know that is SO UNLIKE him. He is a researcher to the nth degree. But we were kinda getting to the point where we just had to pick something, you know?
So, we picked–and they accepted! This house would normally be waaay out of our league. But it’s a foreclosure and is at such an amazing price. Gayle said if we only stay in it a year and sell it, even in this economy, we could make $200,000 easy.
$200,000.
I think it’s a complete miracle. I’m slightly nervous because the house is so big, we’ll be rolling around in it, there will be empty rooms due to our lack of furniture and if any of the neighbors come over, I’m sure they’ll think we’re squatters. But at least there will be no marble trashcan holder. Or pink carpet.
Hopefully we’ll be closing at the end of the month and then I’ll be gushing about the new house every day, I’m sure! I wrote a little more about the move over at Family Bliss. Click over and check it out!
Wow! 200K after a year? That’s INCREDIBLE!!! We’re in the process of refinancing and trying to determine how long we need to stay in order to reap any benefits. I think we’re looking at least two years. Probably more. But our house has never been anywhere near 200K. Not even 100K!
D’oh. I just commented on your PRIOR house hunting post. I’m a dork.
CONGRATS! And YAY for $200K profits! 🙂
that is awesome, congratulations!
what great ways to keep lydia involved in the move! we moved back in July, I was 8 months preggo and adasyn was 3 and a half and we also kept her very involved from day one. it was an adjustment and we are finally all settled and she loves it! we still talk about our old house on a weekly basis and even have to make drive by’s to check on “her yard!” good luck!
Yea! I can’t wait to have the first Sisterchick party in it!
Congratulations, Amanda!!!
Congrats!!
Oh my goodness! SO EXCITING!!!~ Congratulations! And I love your article on Family Bliss about it – Is that really Lydia standing in your door looking at the moving truck? Are you packing up already?!?
Congratulations! I can’t wait to see pictures!
Ohmygoodness! Congratulations! I hope you share pictures.
We didn’t have furniture in most of our house for two years after we bought it. And it’s not even that big!
I hope your view is as nice or nicer than the one you have now.
That is so wonderful! I cannot wait to hear you gush about your new house! And see pics! Please pray for a similar miracle find for us!
Thank you for the awesome article! Will be back for more..
