My sweet sleepy pirate, Asa has been sleeping ten hours at night. TEN LOVELY HOURS. Then he wakes up about 4 or 5am to eat and then falls right back to sleep for 3 hours. Yo ho.
So, what’s the problem?
I can’t fall back to sleep. My mind is whirring and churning. I hear every whimper, snore and creak. I can’t take advantage of my good sleeper!
So, my simple question of the day is:
HOW DO YOU FALL ASLEEP?

I am so not the person to answer this, I too have sleep issues, in fact it is almost 7am, and I have yet to fall asleep, and now the monkey’s will be up soon
I read… that’s the only thing that puts me back to sleep. I have a hard time falling back to sleep, if one of the girls wakes me. Thankfully, now that Olivia is older, she is FINALLY sleeping through the night. But on the rare occasions that I have to get up, I just read to go back to sleep.
I usually fall asleep quite easily when I go to bed. Sometimes I’ll watch TV or read. I read somewhere that, if you can’t fall asleep after 15 minutes, you should get up and occupy yourself for 15 to 20 minutes and then go back to bed and try again. Hmmmmm, I don’t know if that’s your answer though. I do wish you “good sleep”!
pray, i have found when I can’t sleep it is because i need to pray about something going on in life.
I have to admit that I have not slept well since I conceived my oldest son 6 years ago. Now with my little guy he often wakes up and ends up in our bed so I can not sleep. Good luck and hopefully your sleep will return.
I am so tired by the end of the day that I don’t need any help. If I do have a problem I put something really boring on the bedroom tv and lay down while I watch it.
I would like to know as well, I dont sleep at night either!
When I can’t sleep I usually read or watch a little tv (nighttime tv is usually so bad you can’t help but fall asleep!)
Lately I’ve had no trouble falling asleep but it seems as soon as I’m sound asleep I have a baby waking up. I have four month old twins, one is a great sleeper the other not so much! I’m hoping he gets better soon.
I’m lucky that I don’t have any problems about sleeping. I fall asleep just minutes after lying down on bed.
I read. Sometimes a warm shower helps too. It stinks when you can’t get to sleep. Sorry.
When I can’t sleep I read or watch a movie and I usually get sleepy.
Lately it’s been very easy since I’m so tired watching after my baby…I often find myself asleep nursing him!
I have a “Sleep” playlist on my iPod with softer worship songs and pretty music, and I put that on and drift off…
I rarely have a problem sleeping. I am usually exhausted and sleep quite well. At times I cannot sleep I will focus on deep breathing, put a relaxation tape in to guide me to sleep, or pray.
Read a very boring book and you will fall asleep. But do not under any circumstances read Twilight. I havent slept in a week and when I do I only think of vampires. 😉
Sorry you can’t sleep! (That is great about Asa, though!)
I usually fall asleep VERY QUICKLY, but lately I’ve been having the same problem…my mind is racing (mostly trying to figure out my future).
Hope you figure out a solution soon!
….no clue!! I have a problem going back to sleep if I have to wake up around that time! BUT..YAY on the good sleeper…that’s fantastic!
For evening only, I drink a half glass of light red wine. My doctor approves. 🙂 However, if I need to sleep in the day, I turn on a movie I have seen a hundred time.
Ughhh. I have boughts of insomnia for time to time. Reading helps…
I never have a problem falling asleep. I’m usually out as soon as my head hits the pillow.
I wish I could help. It almost always takes me 30 minutes to an hour to fall asleep at night. Usually after I gt up and nurse though I am tired enough to fall right back asleep–it is only initially at night that it’s awful. Sometimes a bath and reading helps me. Sometimes I just have to get up and go downstairs and watch a movie or something.
Sorry hon. But 10 hours–that’s awesome! Libbie has slept 8 a few times lately and it is so wonderful!
If I eat a LOT and am stuffed then I just can fall asleep. I suppose that isn’t very healthy, but it really does work for me.
I don’t. I am a shameless morning person and if I wake up around 5am, there is no going back to sleep for me. but I am also very productive in the mornings. Unfortunately, I am raising a morning person, so the toddler usually gets up when I do, which cuts into my ability to be productive!
Hope you got some good advice!
Sudoku.
I read the Psalms until I fall asleep.
Informative and entertaining. I’ve added your blog to my “reading material.” Keep me updated!
