Countdown: 3 Weeks Until All Ashore That’s Going Ashore

yes, that is my NAKED belly!

my pirate & me at 37 weeks.

I had another sweet baby shower this week. Complete with a delicious pirate hat cake and a diaper treasure chest! We played a little guess-how-big-Amanda’s-belly game with ribbons. These little ribbons were the losers, thank goodness!

I’m feeling pretty tired and sore right now. Everything is swollen–my hands, my feet, my knees (is that possible?).  And I’m feeling…inward. I’ve been reading Bradley’s childbirth book and he talks about one stage of labor where the mom suddenly turns inward and selfish (not in a bad way) to focus on her child. I kinda feel the same way right now. I’m not able to do much more than think about what needs to happen before my pirate arrives. Reading, blogging and even TV are basically out. Nothing can really hold my attention. (I actually marked all my blogs as read. ACK!)

So, the word “countdown” is very real. I know he could be late, but potentially he could be here any day. It’s very surreal. I’m treasuring my days with Lydia and my little family of 3. But also excitedly nervous about my new family of 4!

(btw, photography by Lydia. not bad, huh?)

What a great picture that Lydia took. Love that baby belly.

I can’t believe the time is almost here. Your shower sounds like it was fun. Love the cake & treasure chest.

Looks like you are trying to keep him in there! HA!

Sorry you are feeling tired and swollen. These last few weeks are hard. But! The best reward is almost here! : )

Oh my gosh. Your belly is beautiful! And Lydia’s picture is fabulous! Get that girl her own camera!!! I’ll be praying for you guys as you relish your days together before the little matey gets here, and enjoy being selfish for him (in the good way, of course!).

I love that cute belly! Abigail was almost 10 lbs. and has made my belly not viewable to the public :-). I also love the ribbons. We just used toilet paper at mine. Making a mental note for future friends’ baby showers.

I can’t wait to see your little pirate!!!

Seriously cute picture! And you are right about not being able to concentrate on anything. This stage for me has continued for Bug’s first month. It’s like I have to often choose between writing/reading blogs and sleeping or spending time w/ Woggie. Guess which one wins?

I can’t wait for the pirate to get here!!!!

I share your feelings completely. I just want everything to be ready, but I am trying to enjoy just being husband and I for a few more days.

This picture is so cute- I can’t believe Lydia took it!

your on the home stretch, enjoy every moment as a family of 3. I hope that labor goes well and you will be able to go natural if that is what you want.

Wow, Lydia sure has some steady hands!

I can’t believe you’re only three weeks away. Soak up Lydia and Les as much as possible. He will be everything you ever dreamed of, but it’s still such an adjustment. Can’t wait to hear of his arrival!

I am glad that you enjoyed your shower! I also have that cake for you. I can not believe that we will be adding someone new to our whole family picture! It’s hard to think that there will be someone new at Thanksgiving and Christmas! I can’t wait to buy a Christmas gift for him!

Glad you had another great shower, the ribbons on your belly are just too cute. I know how you feel on the tired and swollen front, whenever baby kicks now, it seriously feels like she’s gonna just burst outta the side of my tummy, know what I mean?!

Hope you are well rested and am joining with you on the excitement front. Can’t wait to see a picture of the lil’ pirate! x

I remember being exactly where you are now… with Bailey. I was so ready! He was the sweetest little baby and at 14 is still such a sweet guy! I’m so excited it’s getting closer and expect to see a picture of a new baby just anytime!!!

    Hi Amanda

I came across your cool blog via IMPRESS YOUR KIDS and their blog entry today “R: Rainbows” which reviewed my book, THE JESUS STORYBOOK BIBLE.

So i thought I’d stop by and say Hi and wish you all the best with your exciting impending new arrival.

And since I see you have an almost nearly older sister, and speaking as a Big Sister myself, I thought she might want to know about a very funny book she may enjoy called HOW TO BE A BABY BY ME THE BIG SISTER. It’s quite cathartic for older siblings…

Anyway, it’s great to meet you here. Love the blog–thanks!
