A Light Wordless Wednesday

by oh amanda on September 3, 2008

My grandmother 11 months old. My great-grandparents. 1931.

I don’t think I’ve ever shared this one before. (I hope not.) I was looking through my external hard drive trying to find a picture because my RIDICULOUS scanner still isn’t working.

This one really made me stop because it’s so light! Most of the time, these old pictures are dark. I love seeing my great-grandparents in light colored clothes. My great-grandmother who was not really a looker, actually looks pretty! Do you see how she rolled down her stockings? And I love her hair!

I wonder if this was a special occasion? Or were they just celebrating their family?

You are so fortunate to have that picture and that someone wrote down who the people are.

What a treasure! Love your great grandmother’s dress and the “turned down hose” – I’ve heard of it but don’t think I’ve ever seen it before!

Cool photo! I have boxes of ones like this of my ancestors. I love that the hairstyles are so universal – my ancestors have the same cuts as yours!

I love old photos. My mom has a huge box of photos of her family that goes back to 1900. I used to spend hours looking at them.
