WFMW: The Best of the Best!

Ok, Shannon’s having the “greatest hits” edition of wfmw. I only have like 4 Works for Me Wednesday posts to choose from, but I do think this is my favorite one.

Be prepared to be amazed.

For real.

This is good.

OK, here we go…

Ever since I read my first Works for Me Wednesday over at Rocks in My Dryer, I have wanted to share this. Well, kinda. I’m about to show the blogosphere the inner workings of my hair care. Something you’ve always wanted to know, I’m sure.

So, without further ado,

HOW TO GET MORE OUT OF YOUR HAIR PRODUCTS!

You know how you spend like $15 on one 6 oz tube of hair gel? The stuff that makes you feel like sometimes you are actually having a good hair day? This is mine. Rusk Wired. I cannot live without it.

When the bottle is almost empty, you start squeezing from the bottom. Then, you turn the nozzle to the left and then to the right. You turn it upside down. You brace it with your other bottles at an angle. Anything to get those last few drops out.

Well, I now have the solution.

That’s right, CUT IT OPEN! You need to cut it a little less than (or is that more than?) half way down. You’ll see why in a minute.

Now look at this! Gobs of Wired! Product galore! Oodles and oodles of gelly goodness!

But here’s the best part! Once you’ve swiped out all that hair-nectar from the top, just slide the tube back on to save the rest of of your product for the next day!

Isn’t that cute? I did this 13 days ago and I’m still using it! That’s almost 2 extra weeks of good hair days, people!

I don’t know if you would consider this saving the environment, my wallet or my hair, but hey–it works for me!

(Just for full disclosure, my mom actually showed me this. And I promise, I will never again discuss my hair regimen on here. I’m all about transparency, but this feels kinda weird.)

This is a great tip, although I am not an eewy, gooey person, so I am not sure about the finger shot.
    Thanks for sharing!

I use Wired, too!! Best stuff ever. Use it on wet hair, use it on dry hair, it’s fabulous. Great, tip, too!

This is a great tip. But what I originally read was, “Get more fun from you beauty products.” I was kinda looking forward to that.

Hey, it probably works with toothpaste, too! I hate squeezing and squeezing and not getting anything.

Of course, I can never find scissors in my house. They magically disappear whenever I need them. Perhaps I’ll have to write a WFMW post on how to keep track of one’s scissors when one needs more hair products or toothpaste…

You clever, clever girl! Now my mind is going nuts thinking about all the containers I could try this with…

Cool tip…I’ve done this with my Mary Kay makeup which comes in a tube. Never thought to do it with gel…hm.

Great idea! I always bemoan the last few drops of gel that got away!

My very favorite, way-too-expensive foundation comes in a tube & I always cut the tube just the same way you do to get all of the wonderful make-up goodness out. Great minds. 🙂

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
