I don’t usually do a recap of my day because 1. My days are not all that exciting. 2. I’m not good at writing recaps. But after reading about Musings of a Housewife’s Thoroughly Unproductive Day, I thought I’d share mine, too.
(Warning: potty training details ahead)
After waking from my fiery dreams, Lydia and I played in our remodeled reorganized newly named “playroom”. She got a rocking horse yesterday from Grandmama & Papa. She’s pretty excited about it. So, that took a good part of the morning. It’s hard to clean up with a rocking horse on your tail. Especially when you squeeze his ear–he starts galloping. Scary.

Lydia and I did get our list out today. We cleaned the toilets & washed the glass doors. (That’s all the list said to do! Oh, how I love my list!)
This whole time Lydia was wearing panties and pants. Like real pants. Cute little cargo pants, actually. By lunch time, she had also worn her new khakis from the Target clearance rack AND her snowflake pants (no, not the skinny ones. yes, she actually has another pair of snowflake pants). Not only did she wet them, she didn’t even tell me until after it was over! It was like the first day of potty training all over again.
Naptime. I put her to bed early and she slept late. (This always happens. Thank you Dr. Weissbluth.)
Then we head off to a cute-wooden-toys-learning-games toy store to buy a birthday present for one of our playgroup friends. I found nothing. Oh, except that Lydia went to the bathroom AGAIN but not in the potty.
Off to Target. More shopping for a cool toy that’s not plastic. Yeah right. Toys are just frigtening today–babies that wake up when you’re near and make scary cooing noises, a plastic red carpet so you can practice your runway wave and a voice activated locking journal (what secrets need to be kept in that?!).
We decide to hit TJMaxx just in case something cool was there. (It wasn’t.) I also learned how to change a 2 year olds panties, pants, socks & shoes in a tiny stall with no wipees and without touching the toilet or the door. If you’ve never done this, you don’t want to.
One more stop to the bookstore. We left disappointed. Nothing good there either.
We get home, eat leftovers and quesadillas, watch the Donut Man and get to bed at 6:45 (early, hoping for that late wake time) and change panties 2 more times.
So the things I did NOT accomplish today: potty train my daughter, keep up with the laundry (how could I when Lydia kept adding to it?), buy a cool present, clean the house and make something for dinner.
What did you NOT get accomplished today?

I didn’t get my reading done. I love the go to bed a little later, sleep in advice I also recieved. It gives me a little extra time in the morning.
At least you got out of the house! 😉 But argh, the potty accidents. I dread those days. They’re approaching quickly.
See, this is why I am such a lazy potty trainer. I LOATHE public bathrooms. When I do have to take my kids in, I swear they are going to end up in therapy someday for all the DON’T TOUCH ANY THING!s I say over and over.
I am glad the early bed/late sleep works for you…I am in love with Marc (we are on a first name basis) but I never got that one to work.
oh my goodness, you’ve just described the past full year of my life. >
You managed to write a very funny blog entry though, so that was productive. 🙂
Hang in there. She’ll get it.
I quit making a list. I’m much too hard on myself when I fail to complete things. 🙂
Sounds like you had quite the day!
I’m absolutely horrible at getting things done, even with a list – kudos to you!
🙂
De-lurking to say I had an unproductive day, too! The baby decided she’d absolutely die if I had to put her down or she fell asleep, so the only thing I got done was washing all her size 2t’s to get them ready to switch out with the 18 months…and I let a pair of red pants get in there, so now my entire collection of girl’s size two winter clothes are splotchy red! Including a really cute snowflake outfit 🙂
Oh, I remember those days! This too shall pass.
I didn’t get too much accomplished today, but the day is not over yet!
What a day!!! You say it was unproductive, but it was way more productive than my day. At least you got OUT! 🙂
I didn’t go to the gym.
I didn’t mail the present (baby shower in a box) to China that I needed to because my pregnant friend is about to POP over there!
Um, so far I have *not* worked out or made my bed!
“your list” – did you buy one of the lists off of motivated moms? Do you really like it & use it or is it one of those things that’s like – well of course you have to change your underwear today?!? Just curious – if it’s really helpful, I may have to check one out for myself:)
