Real Friends Can Be Wordless!

ccf07112007_00004.jpg

A group of my grandmother’s friends in 1952.

I loved this picture immediately. Look at the real true laughter on their faces. Not to mention the wallpaper, the shooooort shorts and the refrigerator. I’m wondering how old they are. Whenever I see an older picture, I always imagine that people are older than me (because in actuality they are!). But these ladies are probably in their early 30’s. Maybe even younger. I just like thinking about them getting together to play bridge (that’s what grandma played) and talking and laughing. Happy for a little break from kids and cleaning and cooking. Just what a mama today wants!

I saved this picture so I could share it during my Sisterchick Gift Basket Giveaway. In honor of my best friends, my sisterchickies, I hope one day our great-grandkids are sharing great pictures of us laughing and talking! (Hey, you can enter this contest, too—and win some chocolate, a book, an etsy bag AND some Vera Bradley! Come play!)

That is such a great picture! It reminds me of the show “Cold Case” where they flash back to black and white when the people are younger. We, the Sisterchicks, would be the modern day version of that picture (after Staci has said something hilarious, of course!) How fun!

this is a great photo! After my dad’s parents passed, we came across TONS of photos. I always knew them as grumpy (later in life they were both in poor health and not really happy about it all…) and to see them during times of great joy and laughter was so amazing! Totally different light was shed on them.

Not to sound all “WAAAAA”, but I hope to have friends like this some day, again.

    Blessings,
    K

Love this picture and the words you wrapped around it. You’re absolutely right, you know: real friends have a shorthand with each other that transcends mere language. It’s evident in this picture, too.

Hope you have a wonderful WW. I’ve posted my contribution here and hope you drop by for a look around:

I seldom leave responses, however I browsed a few responses on this page Real Friends Can Be Wordless! | ohamanda.com. I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it’s allright. Could it be just me or does it seem like some of these responses appear as if they are written by brain dead folks? 😛 And, if you are posting on additional online social sites, I would like to keep up with everything new you have to post. Would you post a list of all of all your social pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
