It’s Fall Yall!

I received Boo Humbug by Renee Gutteridge from Water Brook Press. It’s a cute little Christmas novella. I’m a sucker for Christmas books! (I always pick them up at the after Christmas sales.)

Anyway, this is a little novella featuring the residents of Skary, Indiana. Yes, Skary, Indiana. Renee’s first book with these characters is called Boo. The sequel, Boo Who? The third installment Boo Hiss. And now the Christmas tour, Boo Humbug. Those titles alone should make you want to run right out and read them! I love it.

These books remind me a little of Jan Karon’s Mitford books, only a little more cartoonish. The town of Skary, Indiana used to be famous for it’s own famous horror author, Boo. Once he becomes a Christian, he leaves his horror days behind (hence the title, Boo Who?). I haven’t read Boo Hiss yet, but it’s on it’s way from PBS! Ahh, yeah!

I have to be honest, I’ve only read 4 chapters of Boo Humbug, but I was already giggling! It’s funny, quirky and well, it’s about Christmas. So, how can I not love it? Here’s a little summary from the publisher:

Readers have come to love the eccentric characters from Skary , Indiana , in Rene Gutteridge’s popular Boo! series. Now, in Boo, Humbug! they’re back – and they’re stirring up a large amount of holiday havoc. It’s Christmastime in Skary, and the town is planning an original production of A Christmas Carol with a horror spin. As show time approaches, things go very awry for director Lois Stepaphanopolis.
