I heart books.

Snagged this from dcrmom at Musings of a Housewife. (Have you seen her cute new layout?)

What are you reading right now? I just finished The Elevator by Angela Hunt.

Do you have any idea what you’ll read when you’re done with that? I’ve literally got 15 to-read books on my bookshelf. Beck gave me a ton of good ones a couple of months ago. Then the bookstore was having a $1 sale on some books I’d been wanting to read–I got 6! I think I’m going to pick up Memoirs of a Geisha tonight.

What magazines do you have in your bathroom right now? Yuck. None.

What’s the worst thing you were ever forced to read? Anything my Senior year of High School. Actually, I doubt I actually read them—but I remember Heart of Darkness and some Dostoevsky book.

What’s the one book you always recommend to just about everyone? Oh, depends on the person and the genre. Anyone who wants to get to heaven should read The Chronicles of Narnia. Historical Fiction fans MUST read everything and I do mean everything by Brock & Bodie Thoene (start with Zion Covenant). Teens & tweens have to read The Christy Miller series. And every girl should read the Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace. People who think they don’t like to read need everything by Frank Peretti.

Admit it, the librarians at your library know you on a first name basis, don’t they? No. But Lydia gets excited when we walk into a library or a bookstore! She knows what to do. She will pull all the books off the shelf and say, “Reeeaaaad!”

Is there a book you absolutely love, but for some reason, people never think it sounds interesting, or maybe they read it and don’t like it at all? I don’t know. Most of my friends don’t read, so that would be every book I recommend. I gave my sil the Anne of Green Gables series two years ago and she hasn’t started it yet!

Do you read books while you do other things? Not really. I like to focus.

When you were little, did other children tease you about your reading habits? I don’t think anyone teased me. If they did, I don’t remember. But I did read all the time. I’d read several books a day if I could. I remember freshman Spanish reading This Present Darkenss under my desk. I couldn’t put it down!

What’s the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldn’t put it down? Harry. I got it at midnight. And finished it by 9pm the next day.

If you’re a reader, tag you’re it! If you play along, leave me a comment so we can all see what you’re reading now!

I found your site through Brandy’s, and I played along with this one after she did.

Love your blog, by the way. I’ll be stopping by every now and then for sure. :)

Related experiences:
Reading the last couple of chapters of “Gone with the Wind” under my desk in 8th grade. Trying to stifle the tears. I’m sure my face was red and sweaty!!

Just finished “Memoirs of a Geisha” last night.

Most of your “must-reads” are on my list too!!

I can’t read while doing other things, either. I think it’s part of my right-brained wiring. I just can’t.

I just bought The Elevator! Too funny. I discovered Angela Hunt a few weeks ago and can’t get enough of her.

Ok, Val was right… you’ve got one groovy blog! I love to read. I’m going to sneak into your meme and play along. It’ll go fabulously with a report I read today on the NPR website.
