For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:34 NIV
Today at church our pastor spent his sermon thanking the church. Our church is very large with lots of campuses. This means lots of ministry–and ministry costs money. He gave a brief history of the church and how God has used the people to bring money that has touched ministries and people literally around the world.
He said something I always have known to be true–look at the finances of your church and you’ll see what they care about. Do the adults have the most high-tech equipment? Are the kids’ in a cutting-edge, user friendly facility? Are the staff members compensated well? Is their outreach ministry funded? If you see money pouring into MINISTRY, then you’ll see their heart. I love seeing a church that isn’t afraid to spend money–not for money’s sake–but for ministry.
It’s a good test of your church and then one you can turn around and use on yourself. Where is your treasure? Does it show your real heart?
Such truth!
hey, what church are y’all at?
so, who is “your pastor” now?
So..who is “your pastor” now?
Your church sounds awesome. And it’s true: Spending money on behalf of the kingdom is right-on!
One thing we love at this new church is that their youth programs are very active. Your church does sound great!
Our church is your sister church! We go to Mountain Lake in Cumming.
So very true. 🙂
