Vacation Part 1

Yes, I’m going to have to do it in parts. If I did the whole thing in one post it would be 2 feet long and you’d be bored. So, I thought I’d just spread the boredom out for a few days!

I absolutely love vacations. I even love the roadtrip part of it. Eating junk food. Reading in the back seat. Listening to audio books. Watching new scenery. Trying new restaurants. (Can I just veer off here for a second? I CANNOT spell restaurant on the first try. I always spell it so wrong that my spell check thinks it should be “restraint” UGH.)

Well, I got my fill of all those this week. My parents rented a 12 passenger van (yeah, it was supposed to be a 15…but I guess those are banned) so we could all go together. Mama and Daddy were the only ones that could drive. Lydia and Nora were in their car seats in the front, then the rest of us filled the last two seats.

We drove all the way to a Kentucky State Resort…not a park, a resort! It was pretty cool. We got a little cabin with THREE bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. Lydia and Nora were so excited to be out of that car, they ran everywhere! Our first stop was the playground where my brother, Jason and I tried out the toy backhoes (or whatever they’re called).

Then we walked down to the lake. It’s the biggest man made lake I’ve ever seen. It was just gorgeous. And the shore was all huge square rocks. Almost painted looking. So, we threw rocks, collected rocks and even had a rock skipping contest.

We ate hotdogs and s’mores for dinner. Which mama and I bought at a Bait Shop. Yum. Then the next morning the girls were so happy they played outside our cottage until we strapped them back into their individual torture chambers car seats.

Yup, we had fun at Kentucky Lakes.

Try not to get too excited about tomorrows installment of “Vacation”. (Cool title, huh?)

Kentucky is prettier than I thought. I had so much fun with all of you. I wish we could have stayed longer. I hate that we live so far apart. I heard you are going on a cruise. Have Fun!

By the way, I thought it was the chicken salad that was the draw at O’Carrs. I will have to try Taziki’s soon. Another restaurant, hohum. I must suffer for the cause. heehee
