OK, Losties! Desmond is a monk! Who saw that coming? Well, we should have known…if someone doesn’t have issues with their dad (Hurley, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke, Charlie, Claire, Jin, Sun, Walt), it’s religion (Charlie, Eko, Locke, Rose and even Claire).

I knew after last week we weren’t going to get much to propel the story. But I was so excited to see we were having a Desmond backstory because he’s been on the island the longest. And he’s got Penny and the Portuguese guys looking for him! I don’t know why Desmond thought that was Penny who jumped out of the helicopter. I didn’t see that in his flashback/forward/future/thingy. Maybe it was wishful thinking.

Overall this episode didn’t leave me satisfied. But the 2 things that had the Lost-feel to them were the picture on the monk’s desk. I knew they showed us that on purpose but I didn’t rewind to see who it was. But Shannon pointed out that it was freaky Mrs. Hawking that Desmond met at the pawn shop! Why is she in a picture with a monk? Can monks get married? The monk’s sister?

You know, I used to think that the Losties were there because Dharma wanted them there. Then last week, when Ben had freaky-patch-guy find out all the info on the plane coming down, I changed my mind. NOW seeing Mrs. Hawking it makes me feel like the monastary expereince was designed by Dharma. Maybe even Penny was a set up? Hmmm…of course, Desmond isn’t really a lostie. He was there to push the button…again with the hmmm….

Last thing: the book Desmond found off the jumper. It’s a Portugese book entitled “Ardil-22” which means “Catch 22”, the title of the Lost episode. I don’t have any insight to that. But really, why did they show us the title?

Really last thing: Do I really have to see Sawyer and Kate have sex again? yuck. I want someone to love Sawyer. But I don’t really like Kate. But, oh, did Jack & Juliet just gross you out eating and laughing together? Gag!

Again, I’m lost lost lost. Yay!
