I’m really excited about this Ultimate Blog Party. Is that weird? In case you didn’t know, 5minutesformom is hosting a blog party so everyone can “mingle” at each other’s blogs. How fun is that? They are giving away boatloads of prizes and there are even some party favors for everyone! This morning at like 9am I checked their site and already 150 people were partying. Now I think the count is up to 225!
So, I’ve been thinking about how to introduce myself to the blogging mamas in the blogosphere…the blogdom…the blogland. Since we’re doing a week long party, I thought some party info would be appropriate. I thought I’d share some of the best parties of my life with you. I’m digging through my pictures as we speak (what did we do before digital cameras? Oh yeah, we dug through pictures…) to show you some beauties like my thriftstore 16th birthday, my idiot-photographer wedding and maybe even some vintage stuff like my smurf party. But today, to get this party started, I’m going to share the most recent party we’ve had around here. My daughter, Lydia turned 1 in January. The most amazing and eventful year of my life and Lydia started it off with a bang.
Here’s my little girl 2.5 seconds after her first taste of a cookie cake:
I’m all about themed parties, so hers was a Purple Fairy party. Everyone had to come dressed in purple! The guys loved it, of course. So, tell me about the 1st birthday parties at your house!
(don’t forget to click around to see more about me…i’ve only been doing this for a week or 2, so there aren’t many posts to read!)
{And here’s the rest of my UBP party posts: 50th Birthday Bingo Bash, Baby Dedication, Wedding Horror Story, 30th Birthday Costume Party, 80’s flashback}

Cute picture! It was a great idea to start with pictures of some parties you have participated in. Lydia is adorable!

Hello Amanda!
I can’t resist a good party, so I decided to come by and check out yours! (Thanks for the invite!!)
Lydia is absolutely beautiful (cake-smudged face and all)! Happy belated birthday to your little fairy!
At our house, we also celebrated a first birthday in January… My youngest, Ben, had a froggie themed party. I made him a pond cake decorated with lilly pads and frogs. He even wore a little onesie that had a frog prince on it and said “kiss me”! Ben looked adorable and had a wonderful time, as we all do at parties!!
I do hope you come by to hang out with me at my party! And I’ll be back to visit, soon… I’m anxious to hear about all the parties you’ve already experienced!
Blessings,
YoungMommy

I’m starting at the bottom of the blog list over at the Ultimate blog Party 🙂 And so, you are number one on my reverse list… nice to meet you!

What a precious one! My first child’s first birthday was ridiculously over the top. I think we had almost 100 people there. I learned by the later children to not be so obnoxious and that no one expected handmade centerpieces for all the tables! 🙂
says
What a cutie! She looks so grown up for only being 1 — none of my kids had hair at her age!
That photo reminds me of my first baby’s first birthday. He tried to eat his cake, but freaked out when he couldn’t get the icing off of his hands! It was hilarious, and he loves to look at those pictures and laugh about it now. 🙂

I’m so glad you stopped by my blog! I’ll be back to visit you again 🙂 Your daughter is precious!

Oh yes, cookie cakes are divine! Did you actually make her go a whole year without a taste of one? LOL. 🙂
And I’d LOVE to see pics from that smurf party…

First birthdays at my house are very simple- lots of playing and of course cake- they always get their very own cake and it’s usually their very first taste of one.
Olivia had a store bought cake for her first. Mesa had carrot cake, and Levi had egg-less banana cake. It was delicious! 🙂

Stopping by from the Ultimate Blog Party to say Hi 🙂
My first born also a girl was born in January too! I think that was the best month to have a baby…the swelling wasn’t so bad 🙂

Well if that sweet face isn’t the perfect way to start a party, I don’t know what is! She’s a doll. Have fun this week!

Welcome to the world of blogging! I think you’ll meet lots of great Chrisitan friends. I love themes as well and the Ist birthday theme is a great one to get people to open up. My oldest daughter’s first party was at a park close to our house. We spread out a parachute and used it as a picnic blanket. It was just us, my parents, my in-laws and one of my brothers.
My 2nd’s birthday was at a nice pizza place that had an outdoor play area. It was the same floks (minus my brother) but in addition I had a girlfriend and her 2 kids there along with my older daughter.
Blessings to you-
Jennifer

She is adorable! Our son’s first birthday party was at the beach and it was truly a celebration of me surviving that first year! I spent way too much time planning the party and being a “Martha” and not enough time being a “Mary” but I tend to do that!

Hey, she can hang out with my little guy! They both have their party hats on. Love your site, it’s lots of fun. Drop by mine if you can.

Saying hello from the blog party!
My son’s first birthday was rather boring…Sesame Street cake. Ice cream. Punch. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Such a cute picture of your daughter!

Just popping in for the party. Lydia is so cute! Funny about the “blueberry” conversation. My two-year-old talked about like that at that age: clear meaning, unclear words. And we’re very bookish here, too. I couldn’t do a “Wordless” Wednesday very easily either!
Please come visit me at womanwithmanyhats.com (not my Blogger account), where I have fun exploding bubbles! Look for my Party post!

Great picture! That cake looks so yummy =)
Our first birthdays have been pretty low key, but they have been special because it’s my babies who are turning one LOL!
Have a great week.

Hi Amanda! Awesome to “meet” you today…hopefully the list will still be up at 5MFM cause heavens knows I haven’t made it to nearly 1/4 of the blogs on there! Anyways, thought I’d say hello and awesome idea about remembering parties…hmm, think my son’s first party was WINNIE the POOH! 🙂 Have a great rest of the weekend!
