I *heart* the library. I don’t know, it’s like it’s got energy. I just think about all the good stories that are floating around in there waiting to be read. I think it’s an exciting place to be. If you’re not a reader, I know you can’t understand this. But books are friends to me. I have books that are so good I don’t want to read them again–it’s too bittersweet.
Today I went to the library and got 2 books. One is a book I’ve seen at the bookstore several times but never picked up. It’s called Firstborn by Robin Lee Hatcher. I think it’s about adoption and reconnecting with biological parents. I don’t like to read the back of a book because they tell too much. I like being surprised. It’s like when a good movie is coming out, I don’t watch the preview. Nowadays, they show every stinkin’ scene!
The second book I randomly picked up. It’s Gap Creek by Robert Morgan. I saw one of his other books and it looked good. But there was a byline under his name that said, “Best selling author of Gap Creek”. So, I thought I should read the award-winning one first, you know? When I checked out the librarian said, “This book is going to wear you out.” I replied, “Is that a good thing?” She said she loved the book and she will never complain about doing the dishes again. I guess I’ll get it after I read the book.
Have you read these books? Whad’ya think? Anything else to reccomend? I’ll let you know what I think when I finish.
In other news, Lydia’s nose has been wiped 5,354 times today. I babysat my 2 year old neice who took a 3 hour nap while she was here. My dh didn’t answer my calls for 2 hours. I watched the one hour American Idol results show in 10 minutes (oh, how I love my tivo!). It rained ALL day. Fun times.
Don’t forget, the 5m4m Ultimate Blog Party starts tomorrow! (see my link to the right…) They are giving away prizes, as in FREE! Drop in and chat, boogie or snack, whatever you like best!

don’t know if you are looking for fiction but Francine Rivers wrote this amazing book called Redeeming Love. ( i know sounds like cheese..) but it is so good! It is the a novel about Hosea and Gomer. It’s the best novel i’ve ever read. Don’t start it at night tho cause you’ll stay up all night and finish it that moment. Soo good.
Since you are finishing up The Chronicles of Narnia.. check this out and let me know what you think..

I don’t know who Joy is, but I agree w/her 100%. If you are a reader, I’d like to think that you’ve already read “Redeeming Love”. I get my feelings hurt when people tell me they didn’t like it. Actually, only one person has said that. It’s GREAT. I also watched the Americon Idol results show. And if that Sanjeya guy doesn’t go home next week I might have to boycott the show. Not really, but seriously…..

I’ve read both the books you mentioned. Hatcher isn’t my favorite author, but the book was ok. Gap Creek was ok too. I tend to stick with Christian Fiction, so Gap Creek was a little difficult for me to like (for me, it was just filled with weird stuff and I didn’t understand the meaning of it all). Anyway, I completely agree with Joy, Redeeming Love is an excellent book. I highly recommend it. I have enjoied just about everything written by Rivers. Right now I have to say that Karen Kingsbury is my favorite author. You may want to check her out too next time your at your beloved library! 🙂

I wish I enjoyed reading. But I don’t. If it has pictures and can be read in 30 minutes (aka magazines) then I can do that. But to actually sit and get emotionally involved in a book…I just can’t do it. How sad is that? And I don’t watch the news either, so I really do live in my own bubble. But I like this world – it’s peaceful here 😉
